Are you passionate about empowering students to excel both academically and personally? City Year seeks devoted individuals to join our team as AmeriCorps members, where you will provide essential coaching and mentoring to students on their path to achievement. About City Year
City Year is part of the AmeriCorps program, dedicated to ensuring that every student receives the support necessary to achieve their educational goals. Our AmeriCorps teams work in partnership with schools to provide vital assistance to students, support classrooms, and foster a strong school community, all aimed at promoting educational equity.
Your Role
As a City Year AmeriCorps member, your duties will include:
- Providing personalized 1:1 and small group academic mentoring to enhance student learning
- Engaging students in interactive activities to improve their literacy and math skills
- Implementing effective behavior management strategies to cultivate a positive classroom environment
- Helping students develop essential interpersonal skills through structured learning techniques
- Collaborating with teachers to track and assess student progress
- Creating a nurturing and dynamic classroom alongside educators
- Supporting initiatives that enhance student and family involvement
- Leading events that celebrate student successes in academics and behavior

Eligibility Requirements
We're looking for enthusiastic individuals who meet the following criteria:
- U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents
- Aged 17-25 by July 1, 2025
- Possess a high school diploma or GED, or have relevant college experience
- Willingness to undergo a background check
- Available to begin service by July/August 2025
