Primary purpose of this position:
NC State’s inclusive postsecondary education program for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities, Elevate, is seeking a motivated and reliable Academic Coach to lead academic support efforts and promote self-determined learning among Elevate students. This role provides the opportunity to coordinate academic mentoring, enhance classroom engagement, and help students build confidence in their academic skills.


Job Responsibilities:

• Provide 10 hours per week of support, including direct peer mentoring and leadership responsibilities
• Coordinate study sessions, academic check-ins, and navigator-led learning routines
• Meet with approximately 5 Elevate students weekly to assist with course navigation, assignment planning, time management, and academic goal creation
• Collaborate with Elevate staff to create resources that promote independence and engagement
• Guide and support navigators in modeling effective support strategies and communication practices
• Conduct monthly check-ins with navigators to promote collaboration and troubleshoot challenges
• Plan and implement academic workshops for Elevate students and navigators
• Attend staff or consultant developed trainings to support Coach skill development

Requirements and Preferences Work Schedule Schedule: 10 hours per week on campus Other Work/Responsibilities Minimum Experience/Education Eligibility Requirements:

• Must be an undergraduate or graduate student currently enrolled at NC State University
• Must have served as a peer mentor with the Elevate program for at least one full semester
• Strong academic, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Must have a passion for inclusion
• Ability to lead, collaborate, and provide constructive support to peers
• Proficiency with Google Suite tools and digital scheduling and communication mechanisms used by the Elevate program
