· Perform monthly inventory close activities, including inventory rollforwards and reconciliations to the general ledger
· Review inventory transactions (receipts, issues, transfers, and adjustments) for completeness and accuracy; research and resolve discrepancies
· Support and/or lead cycle counts and physical inventory processes, including planning, reconciliation, and documentation of results
· Analyze inventory and cost variances and work with Operations and Purchasing to identify drivers and corrective actions
· Monitor slow-moving and obsolete inventory and assist with reserve calculations and supporting documentation
· Prepare inventory reporting and supporting schedules for internal reporting, external auditors, and lenders as needed
· Maintain the fixed asset subledger, including additions, disposals, transfers, retirements, and supporting documentation
· Ensure appropriate capitalization in accordance with company policy; coordinate placed-in-service updates and documentation
· Calculate and record monthly depreciation; reconcile fixed asset subledger to the general ledger
· Support construction-in-progress (CIP) tracking and ensure timely project closeout and classification
· Perform special projects and other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS/POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
· 3+ years of accounting experience with significant exposure to inventory accounting and/or cost accounting
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.); strong Excel skills preferred (pivot tables, lookups, working with large datasets)
· Experience working in an ERP system; ability to learn and navigate new systems quickly
· Comfortable with deadlines and achieving targets or goals, especially during month-end close
· Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail and strong documentation discipline
· Problem-solving and critical-thinking skills with the ability to explain variances clearly and drive resolution
· Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
· Previous experience in an inventory-intensive environment (manufacturing, distribution, petroleum, construction materials, etc.) a plus
· CPA/CMA or progress toward certification a plus
