Chiquita Canyon Landfill, a Waste Connections company, is looking for a Technician / Laborer to join the team in Castaic, CA!

The schedule is subject to change, but will most likely be Sunday evening – Friday morning 6pm-4am plus rotating Saturdays.

The starting pay range for this position will be $26-28/hour. The pay range for this job category is $26-30/hour. Your hourly rate will depend on experience and certifications.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Replacing and repairing valves and tanks used for holding liquid
• Moving and securing hoses from trucks to tanks
• Communicating clearly with other employees and vendors regarding liquid management
• Working with Compliance Manager on other projects as needed

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

• Work involves constant exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, odors, hazardous materials and/or loud noises
• Moderate physical activity, such as walking up and down hills, climbing stairs, bending and lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following safety precautions and training

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• HAZWOPER (Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response) training is highly preferred. Ability to get the 40 hour certification once hired is required.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Ability to adhere to Company policies and rules that are set forth; promotes the Company’s safety standards; work with a sense of honesty, integrity and trustworthiness
• Experience working with hazardous waste is highly desirable
• Ability to adhere to work schedule, take initiative, and follow through on challenges as they arise
• Minimum 1 year of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
• Ability to effectively communicate with vendors, customers, and other employees
