ABOUT THE JOB

Curative is reimagining health care and health insurance - with straightforward pricing and $0 out of pocket costs with a baseline visit.. Help us create a better healthcare experience for our members by making it easy & intuitive for them to access the care they need.

We’re looking for an experienced and forward-thinking Actuary to lead analytical initiatives and pricing strategy through data-driven insights. The ideal candidate is fluent in Python and SQL/Vibe coding, and experienced in working with Machine-Readable Files (MRF) and large healthcare datasets. This role will play a key part in shaping our pricing models for stop loss, level funded and employer large group, forecasting methodologies, and automation tools to support business decisions across underwriting, risk management, and product design.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and maintain actuarial models and forecasting tools for pricing, trend analysis, and risk assessment for employer large group, level funded and stop loss. .

  • Lead efforts to extract, clean, and analyze data from MRFs and other healthcare data sources.

  • Design and automate data pipelines using Python and SQL for continuous model improvement.

  • Partner with finance, underwriting, and product teams to evaluate plan performance and pricing competitiveness.

  • Support regulatory filings, rate development, and reserve analyses.

  • Build and document actuarial assumptions, methodologies, and standards to ensure model accuracy and compliance.

  • Explore and apply AI and machine learning techniques to enhance predictive accuracy and operational efficiency.

  • Supervise and Mentor junior analysts and collaborate cross-functionally to drive data-driven decision-making.

  • Other projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field.

  • Associate or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (ASA/FSA) .

  • 5+ years of actuarial experience in health insurance, managed care, or healthcare analytics. Experience in stop loss, level funded and employer large group is highly preferred.

  • Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL/vibe coding; experience with large-scale data processing required.

  • Hands-on experience with Machine-Readable Files (MRF) and healthcare pricing data.

  • Familiarity with AI/ML, statistical modeling, and automation tools is a strong plus.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to present complex data to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Leadership experience (mentoring or managing a small team) preferred for Manager/Director levels.
