Assistant Professor/Academic Coordinator

Under the general direction and supervision of the Program Director, the Assistant Professor/Academic Coordinator oversees all academic curricula, which include courses in the basic and behavioral sciences and curricula associated with history and physical examination, as well as components of clinical medicine courses. The Assistant Professor/Academic Coordinator assures documentation of curriculum delivery and, together with the Curriculum Committee, oversees and facilitates the development, revision, and evaluation of all program curricular content.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Actively participate in the processes of developing, reviewing, and revising the mission statement for the program, selecting applicants for admission to the PA program.
• Provide student instruction.
• Evaluate student performance.
• Academic counseling of students.
• Assure the availability of remedial instruction; designing, implementing, coordinating, evaluating curriculum.

Under the direction of the Program Director oversee all didactic courses including issues of overlap, planned redundancy, and annual addition/revision of course content:

• Reviews and approves course materials (e.g. syllabi). Periodically monitors teaching classroom activity.
• Textbook selection (jointly with the course instructor).
• Maintains evaluation files of classroom teaching activity.
• Teach current curriculum.
• Trains faculty on maintenance of files for computerized test results and statistical reports.
• Together with the Curriculum Committee develops new curricular content, reviews and recommends curricular revisions based upon outcome data of students and graduates, and changes recommended by the ARC-PA.
• Prepares documentation and submits reports for grants, self-studies, annual reports, etc. as assigned.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

• Participates in other or institutional administrative functions as requested/assigned by the Program Director.

Education:

• Regionally accredited master's degree required; Master's level NCCPA-certified PA.
• California Physician Assistant licensure or eligibility for California licensure.

Experience:

• Two or more years in higher education.
• At least two years of experience as a Physician Assistant in a clinical practice.
• At least one year of teaching experience.
• PC proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).

• Flexibility to work overtime and/or weekends as required.

Compensation: $110,000 - $150,000 annually

Position Status: Full-Time, Exempt

Complexity: The ability to perform highly detailed work with sustained attention and care while providing/obtaining information on numerous inquiries is paramount to success in this position.

Physical Demands: Occasional stooping. Frequent standing. Constant walking, sitting, climbing, reaching high/low levels, finger movement, feeling, speaking clearly, hearing conversationally, and seeing far and near.

Work Environment: Occasionally required to work in confined space. Position is on-site unless specific authorization from the manager.

Mental Demands: Frequent variety of unrelated tasks. Constant calculating, interrupted work, a variety of interrelated tasks, and use of sustained concentration, reasoning, judgment, resourcefulness, analytical ability, and ingenuity.
