Program Coordinator - Restorative Integrated Self-Education (RISE)

The Chabot-Las Positas Community College District is seeking a Program Coordinator Restorative Integrated Self-Education (RISE) for Chabot College in Hayward, California. The position is grant/categorically funded and continuation is contingent upon available funding on a year to year basis.

Under direction, plan, develop, coordinate, implement, promote, and oversee the Family Resource program to assist families of children enrolled at the Chabot Children's Center; research and coordinate College and community resources and agencies; serve as a resource to parents and families for referrals to resources, services, and support; identify parent education and training opportunities; and perform a variety of technical, administrative, and programmatic work in support of assigned program.

Representative duties include coordinating the daily services and activities related to the Restorative Integrated Self-Education (RISE); coordinating, implementing, recruiting, and promoting support services for the RISE as determined by program and student needs; partnering and collaborating with Santa Rita Prison to promote and register students for coursework; participating in the identification, planning, development and implementation of activities and services that promote and enhance support for currently & formerly incarcerated students; developing systems to monitor and evaluate program effectiveness; maintaining records, files, and statistics to ensure compliance with Federal and State reporting requirements; coordinating and participating in the preparation of required reports; acting as liaison with college and community partners to enhance awareness and advocate for support of the Restorative Integrated Self-Education (RISE); assisting in maintaining assigned program financial records; recommending adjustments as necessary; preparing budget reports as required; overseeing development of in-reach and outreach materials; providing staff assistance to the assigned administrator or appropriate manager; participating on a variety of committees; preparing reports and other correspondence as appropriate and necessary; attending and participating in professional group meetings; maintaining awareness of issues, trends, and developments in related programs and services; keeping abreast of changing technologies and software programs to support targeted students; coordinating active marketing and social media presences for the Restorative Integrated Self-Education (RISE); providing assistance with college-wide activities, events, and programs related to students using the RISE; and performing related duties as required.

Minimum education and experience typically include a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in social sciences, liberal studies, business administration, public administration, or a related field, and three years of increasingly responsible administrative, technical, and/or programmatic experience, preferably in outreach, program development, or in an educational institution.

Minimum qualifications generally describe the knowledge and ability required to enter the job and/or be learned within a short period of time in order to successfully perform the assigned duties. This includes knowledge of issues faced by formerly incarcerated student population and knowledge of various community resources and support groups; pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations; principles and practices of program planning and implementation; principles, practices, and procedures of fiscal, statistical, and administrative record keeping; outreach, marketing, and social media principles and techniques; principles and practices of fiscal, statistical, and administrative research and report preparation; principles of communicating and collaborating effectively with students, faculty, staff, and administration; the diverse academic, socioeconomic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds of the community college students and the community at large; and interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy. Ability to coordinate and direct programs, activities, and operations of the Restorative Integrated Self Education (RISE); carry out work objectives in an organized, efficient, and timely manner without immediate supervision; perform detailed and complex specialized technical, programmatic, and administrative support duties involving the use of independent judgment and personnel initiative with speed and accuracy; recommend and implement goals and objectives for providing various programs and operations; maintain databases, update website and computer; understand, interpret, and apply general and specific administrative and departmental policies and procedures as well as applicable federal, state, and local policies, laws, and regulations; research information using your own initiative; organize, assimilate, and analyze information; respond tactfully, clearly, concisely, and appropriately to requests and inquiries from the public, students, District staff and faculty, or other agencies; make regular contact with students, staff, and the public to discuss routine and complex scheduling and financial transactions and resolve problems within specified standards; provide lead direction, training, scheduling assistance, and coordination for assigned student assistants and support staff; complete required forms and surveys; prepare clear and concise reports; collect and receive monies and write receipts; prepare a variety of clear and concise administrative and financial records; set up and maintain a variety of databases; set up and maintain a variety of files and records; analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action; work under pressure of deadlines; plan and organize work to meet schedules and change deadlines; carry out work objectives in an organized, efficient, and timely manner; operate office equipment including computers and supporting word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications; adapt to changing technologies and learn functionality of new equipment and systems; type and/or enter data at a speed necessary for successful job performance; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; work with and exhibit sensitivity to and understanding of the varied racial, ethnic, cultural, sexual orientation, academic, socio-economic, and disabled populations of community college students.

Desirable qualifications include a job work schedule of 40 hours/week, Monday Friday, 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m., hours may vary depending on department needs, occasional evening and weekends required as needed, 12 months/year.

Physical demands and working environment include working primarily indoors and in a standard office setting; frequent customer interaction. Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
