Primary City/State: Phoenix, Arizona Department Name: IOP Admin Work Shift: Day Job Category: Phlebotomy Your pay and benefits are important components of your journey at Sonora Quest Laboratories/Laboratory Sciences of Arizona. This opportunity includes the option to participate in a variety of health, financial, and security benefits. In addition, this position may be eligible for our Management or Sales Incentive Programs as part of your Total Rewards package. POSITION SUMMARY This position is accountable for planning, directing, and controlling all phases of off-site phlebotomy operations to effectively contribute to the attainment of corporate objectives. CORE FUNCTIONS 1. Selects, develops, and trains employees throughout the employee life cycle through timely selection, ongoing feedback, coaching/mentoring, and promoting continuing education. Recommends pay adjustments and administers performance reviews within established time frames. Oversees orientation and training for both new and incumbent employees. 2. Operates assigned business unit in a cost effective manner. Maintains appropriate staffing levels with minimum necessary overtime and usage of per diem employees. Ensures minimal employee turnover and tracks supply usage and orders as needed. Assists in budgeting operating and human resource expenses and monitors financial activities of the business unit. 3. Ensures that assigned locations are functioning effectively and that service levels are maintained and enhanced. Promotes the organization within the community through effective and professional communications with physicians, clients, and internal customers with an emphasis on teamwork and customer satisfaction. 4. Identifies and resolves service issues using Six Sigma and Lean work flow principles. Champions safety initiatives within the business unit. 5. Coordinates facilities management for the assigned business unit through negotiation with vendors and by working with contractors, landlords, clients, and account managers. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES DIRECTLY REPORTING up to 40 technical employees MATRIX OR INDIRECT REPORTING None TYPE OF SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Hires, trains, conducts performance management, evaluations, and directs the workflow for the staff. SCOPE AND COMPLEXITY Position has departmental responsibility, works under supervision using judgment to achieve goals. Internal customers are other staff, visitors, supervisors, managers and executives. External customers are patients, visitors, vendors, other company facilities, and non-company medical facilities. Has freedom to determine how best to accomplish functions within established procedure. Confers with a manager for unusual situations. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENT FACTORS Able to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently. Possess physical agility and adequate reaction time to respond quickly and appropriately to unexpected patient care needs. Needs adequate hearing and visual acuity, including adequate color vision. Requires fine motor skills, adequate eye-hand coordination, and ability to grasp and handle objects. Able to use proper body mechanics to assist patients in ambulating, transferring in and out of bed, chair or wheelchair. May be required to lift up to 75 pounds. Must use standard precautions due to threat of exposure to blood and bodily fluids. Ability to communicate effectively. May require periodic use of personal computer. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education or experience consistent with an Associate's degree in healthcare or a related field. Minimum of three (3) years' of Phlebotomy experience. Ability to perform complex problem solving and leadership skills required. Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly in English. Advanced computer skills. Exceptional Customer Service skills. Working knowledge of regulatory, accrediting, and compliance requirements. Good leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Must possess a valid driver's license and be eligible for coverage under the company auto insurance policy. IOP placement requires execution of "Confidential Information and Restrictive Covenant Agreement". Placement in Mobile/Long Term Care department requires ADHS Fingerprinting Certification or the ability to obtain fingerprinting certification. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience with Six Sigma and/or Lean Work Flow a plus. National Phlebotomy Certification.
