As an Adult Respiratory Therapist, you will operate independently in critical care environments, adhering to physician orders and departmental protocols. You will collaborate with healthcare providers to recommend appropriate treatment options.

We offer sign-on bonuses for qualifying full-time positions : $7,500 for Direct Care Respiratory Therapists with one year of experience and $5,000 for those with less than one year. Additionally, eligible candidates receive tax-free loan repayment of $1,800 per year. If relocating to South Carolina, inquire about our relocation assistance program.

Accountabilities

  • Independently perform general and critical care respiratory therapy procedures as directed. - 20%
  • Collect and analyze blood gases from various sites and communicate results accurately. - 10%
  • Initiate, monitor, and manage patients needing invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation. - 20%
  • Manage all types of airways and related equipment. - 10%
  • Document and charge all respiratory care procedures accurately while educating patients and families as needed. - 10%
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare team members, providing comprehensive reports and recommendations. - 10%
  • Adhere to infection control protocols, ensuring proper cleaning and sterilization of equipment. - 10%
  • Practice prudent resource management, focusing on efficient use of supplies. - 10%

    • Supervisory / Management Responsibility

    This is a non-management position reporting to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.

    Minimum Requirements

    Graduation from a Respiratory Therapy program accredited by the AMA or a future graduate within three months.

    Required Certifications / Registrations / Licenses

    Must hold or be eligible for a Respiratory Care Practitioner license in South Carolina. BLS certification required. NBRC credentials must be maintained. Individuals hired after June 2016 must pass specific exams within six months of graduation; failure to do so may result in termination.

    NRP and PALS are prerequisites for positions in the Children's Hospital, prior to independent work in NICU and PICU.

    Other Required Skills and Experience

    Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment with strong communication, computer, and organizational skills.
