STS Engineering Solutions is hiring a Senior Engineer in Melbourne, Florida. This is a full-time, on-site engineering role supporting daily aircraft maintenance, repair and modification operations at MLB. This position is ideal for an experienced aviation engineer with a strong liaison engineering background, structural repair experience, FAR knowledge and the ability to provide fast, accurate engineering support in a live MRO or aircraft check environment. Position Summary The Senior Engineer will provide expedient engineering support to customers on a daily basis. Responsibilities include liaison engineering support, repair design, structural analysis, calculations, drawings and certification support. This role requires a strong understanding of FARs, Service Bulletins, Airworthiness Directives and Advisory Circulars, along with excellent oral and written communication skills. The ideal candidate will understand the pace of airline operations, MRO activity and aircraft check environments, where timely repair development and delivery are critical. Department Engineering Reports To Manager of Engineering Nature of Work The Senior Engineer will work on site at MLB and provide engineering support for line and check aircraft. This role supports aircraft structural discrepancies, repair schemes, customer communication, technical data review, alternate materials and processes, and repair substantiation. Desired Characteristics Strong communicator Goal-oriented Proven liaison engineering background Creative approach to repair development and problem solving Strong understanding of FAR compliance Understanding of airline, MRO and aircraft check environments Ability to support timely repair delivery in a fast-paced operational setting Educational Background and Experience Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university required Aviation-related background or Mechanical Engineering background preferred Previous engineering experience within the aviation industry desired Experience with airline support, structural repairs, MRO engineering, liaison engineering or MRB engineering desired Duties and Responsibilities Work on site at MLB Provide expedient engineering support for line and check aircraft Develop repair schemes, including drawings or sketches, for structural aircraft discrepancies Prepare supporting analysis and calculations for structural aircraft repairs Use Original Equipment Manufacturer technical data, including engineering drawings, Structural Repair Manuals, Illustrated Parts Catalogs, Aircraft Maintenance Manuals and related documents Communicate with customers during the development of structural repairs and modifications Define customer needs, timelines, deliverables and repair requirements Follow up with customers during implementation of proposed repair schemes Make changes or revisions to repair schemes to support repair work Determine alternate materials and processes while ensuring design requirements, weight optimization, safety and reliability standards are met Provide engineering status updates on work progress as required by the Manager of Engineering General Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to accomplish structural analysis for substantiating major and minor aircraft repairs Thorough understanding of applicable FARs Strong oral and written communication skills Ability to communicate effectively and directly with customers Strong technical judgment Ability to support maintenance teams, operators, OEMs and vendor engineering groups Ability to prepare reports for management and customers Essential Functions Answer incoming calls Prepare reports for management and customers Liaise with Maintenance, Operators, OEMs and Vendor Engineering Substantiate structural repairs Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer Prolonged periods of walking or standing for meetings on the hangar floor Classification Exempt / Salaried / Full-Time Position Hiring Note Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.
