Department : Position Overview :

The incumbent will maintain care and treatment of animals according to standard operating procedures and to ensure compliance with federal rules and regulations. Specific duties include : daily health checks, treatments, sample collections, breeding and cage changes; updating room logs; Animal medical procedures as directed by the veterinary staff, ensuring cleanliness of mice / rat facilities; assisting in the cage wash rooms - dumping and / or filling cages - as needed and performing other duties as assigned. The incumbent will provide technical support for studies including animal handling and restraint, weaning, timed mating, tail snips, ear tagging, injections blood / tissue collections, surgical preparations, and post-operative observations etc.

Responsibilities :

• Health checks and cage changes for laboratory animals
• Veterinary care and treatments
• Breeding and sample collections
• Technical Support (Injections, and blood collections)
• Cage prep for sterilization / cage washing
• General housekeeping, sanitization, stocking supplies
• Administrative, i.e. schedule coordination, operations meetings

Required Minimum Qualifications :

Note : Additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
