Job description

Program Assistant V, Office of Community Living

Reporting directly to the Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Community Living, the Program Assistant serves as a key member of the Office of Community Living team by providing administrative, operational, programmatic, and student support services across multiple functional areas, including Residence Life, Off-Campus Living, the Food Pantry and Basic Needs initiatives, Health Promotion Services, and Student Conduct. The Program Assistant coordinates a wide range of projects and services that support student success, belonging, and well-being. Responsibilities include managing departmental operations, budgets, websites, communications, assessment data, and administrative processes while serving as a primary resource for students, families, faculty, staff, and community partners.

A significant component of the role includes supporting Off-Campus Living initiatives through student outreach, resource development, social media management, educational programming, and direct student support. The Program Assistant communicates housing resources and information, assists students navigating the San Francisco rental market, coordinates appointments and educational initiatives, and connects students with campus and community resources that support successful off-campus living.

The Program Assistant exercises independent judgment to prioritize competing responsibilities, identify solutions to complex issues, recommend improvements to office practices and procedures, and effectively respond to the needs of a diverse campus community. Due to the cross-functional nature of the position, regular communication with and receipt of assignments from both the Assistant Dean of Students and the Associate Director for Community Living is expected. As a member of the larger Student Life team, the Program Assistant collaborates with colleagues to support student learning, leadership development, intercultural competence, and holistic well-being in alignment with the university's Jesuit Catholic mission and commitment to social justice.
