Senior Staff Accountant

Location: Concord, NC

Job Type: Full-Time, On-Site

Salary: $70,000-$85,000 per year, depending on experience

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM

Reports To: Chief Financial Officer / Managing Director, United Kingdom

Position Summary

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the company's day-to-day accounting operations. This position will perform general accounting activities including journal entries, account reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, financial reporting, month-end close, and tax-related activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and accounting entries.
• Review and assist with financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements.
• Post transactions and journal entries to the general ledger.
• Reconcile bank accounts and other balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy.
• Process accounts payable invoices and monitor payments.
• Manage accounts receivable, including customer payments and outstanding balances.
• Independently manage and oversee monthly and quarterly financial close processes.
• Prepare reports and reconciliations required for period-end closing.
• Analyze financial data and identify discrepancies, trends, or potential issues.
• Prepare financial reports for management, including profit and loss statements and cash flow information.
• Maintain and follow established internal controls to safeguard company assets and financial information.
• Assist with the preparation and filing of U.S. sales tax returns.
• Prepare and/or assist with VAT returns.
• Assist with tax preparation and provide documentation as needed.
• Support external audits by gathering requested financial records and documentation.
• Maintain accurate and organized accounting files and documentation.
• Protect confidential financial and company information.
• Perform other accounting-related duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and GAAP.
• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with NetSuite is preferred.
• Strong accounts payable and accounts receivable experience.
• Experience preparing or supporting U.S. sales tax filings.
• Experience with VAT returns is required.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of financial and company information.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and business needs.
• Customer service experience is preferred.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Accounting, or a related field.
• 2-4 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Experience with U.S. sales tax filing and VAT returns.
• Manufacturing or industrial accounting experience is a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Primarily sedentary office work with prolonged periods of sitting.
• Extensive computer use, including typing and viewing computer monitors.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Occasional walking, standing, bending, and reaching in an office environment.
• Occasional lifting of files, supplies, or equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
