About the Internship nLIGHT is currently recruiting for an Engineering student to intern with us for the summer of 2026. This internship is a 10 to 12-week program that offers challenging assignments, projects, and career development opportunities to enhance your professional growth. You will also earn a competitive wage based on your discipline and academic class status.
About the Team The Electrical Engineering team is a small group of engineers and technicians that as responsible for the design, test, and troubleshooting of a variety of printed circuit boards for industrial, medical, and defense applications.
What You Can Expect to Learn - How to test and troubleshoot printed circuit boards.
- How to read schematics and cable drawings.
- How to use Altium Designer and other applications used in electronics design.
- How to use common electronics lab bench test equipment, i.e. meters, oscilloscopes.
- How to design simple printed circuit boards.
What You Can Expect to Do - Assist in the test and troubleshooting of printed circuit boards, referencing schematics and test procedures.
- Work alongside other electrical engineers and electrical technicians.
- Get hands-on experience with electronic hardware and software in a lab environment.
- Create tooling to aid in the testing of electronic assemblies.
Who You Are - You possess circuit knowledge and the ability to read schematics
- You have experience working with an ECAD tool, preferably Altium Designer
- You are familiar with multimeters, oscilloscopes, or logic analyzers
- You have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- You take initiative and have an eagerness to learn
Minimum Job Requirements - You must be working toward a degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical and Computer Engineering
- You must have completed (at a minimum) your sophomore year in college
- You must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or above to be considered
