Job description

Plant Manager

The Plant & Operations Manager holds full responsibility for the performance, stabilization, and strategic development of our El Paso manufacturing site during a post-acquisition transformation phase. This role combines end-to-end site leadership with strong hands-on operational management across a 3-shift (24/5) operation. You will oversee Production, Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, EHS, and Materials/Logistics, ensuring the plant delivers excellence in safety, quality, efficiency, delivery, and cost performance. Beyond operational execution, you will rebuild leadership structure, strengthen accountability, and embed continuous improvement while partnering closely with the local CEO, HR, and stakeholders in Germany to execute the site's transformation and modernization roadmap.

Responsibilities

Site Leadership & Strategic Direction

  • Act as the primary leader of the El Paso production site with full accountability for operational performance and long-term development
  • Define and execute the plant's stabilization and transformation roadmap, including modernization, capacity planning, and investment initiatives
  • Develop annual goals, KPIs, and budgets aligned with company strategy
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, inclusion, and continuous improvement
  • Serve as the main point of contact for corporate leadership, German stakeholders, auditors, authorities, and partners

Operational Excellence & Production Management

  • Lead day-to-day manufacturing operations across a 3-shift (24/5) environment
  • Maintain strong, visible shop-floor presence ("boots on the ground") to remove barriers and reinforce execution discipline
  • Drive measurable improvements in safety, quality, throughput, OEE, material efficiency, and cost performance
  • Reduce scrap and rework through strengthened process discipline and standard work
  • Optimize production planning, scheduling, and materials flow to meet customer commitments
  • Embed Lean, TPM, and continuous improvement initiatives (5S, Kaizen, waste reduction, value stream optimization)
  • Standardize operating procedures and build a sustainable performance management cadence

Maintenance, Engineering & Technical Infrastructure

  • Ensure high equipment availability and reliability through structured preventive and predictive maintenance
  • Strengthen collaboration between production, maintenance, and engineering
  • Lead CAPEX planning and execution for new equipment, automation, and facility upgrades
  • Support implementation of digitalization and systems improvements (e.g., MES/ERP)

Leadership & Organizational Development

  • Lead, coach, and align a cross-functional leadership team across production, maintenance, quality, engineering, and materials/planning
  • Clarify roles, expectations, and accountability to stabilize plant performance
  • Develop supervisors and managers, elevate leadership capabilities, and address structural gaps
  • Partner closely with HR to rebuild trust, improve communication, and restore a respectful, performance-oriented culture
  • Build a strong leadership pipeline and reinforce cross-functional collaboration
  • Lead inclusively within a diverse, multicultural workforce

Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with corporate standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations
  • Oversee quality management systems, certifications, and audit processes
  • Promote a zero-incident safety culture and environmental compliance
  • Lead structured safety programs and risk-reduction initiatives

Business & Stakeholder Alignment

  • Translate global strategy and transformation priorities into clear local execution plans with measurable results
  • Operate with strong commercial and financial awareness, even without full P&L ownership
  • Align site objectives with global standards and performance expectations
  • Represent the site in cross-company initiatives and strategic projects

Qualifications

Degree in Engineering, Industrial Management, or a related technical field (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Production Technology)

Extensive leadership experience as Plant Manager, Operations Manager, or comparable senior manufacturing leader with end-to-end site accountability

Experience leading multi-shift manufacturing operations

Strong hands-on operational leadership style with consistent shop-floor engagement

Broad functional expertise across production, maintenance, engineering, quality, and materials/logistics

Proven track record of driving measurable operational improvements (safety, quality, throughput, scrap reduction, cost performance)

Experience stabilizing and strengthening plant structure in a transforming or post-acquisition environment

Strong knowledge of Lean, TPM, and modern manufacturing principles

Strong financial and business acumen

Excellent leadership, communication, and change management skills

Experience working with international stakeholders; ability to translate global priorities into local execution

Ability to lead effectively within a diverse workforce; Spanish language skills are a plus

High resilience, problem-solving capability, and a structured, results-driven mindset

What We Offer

Full responsibility for a strategically important production site

Strong influence on site strategy, modernization, and investment decisions

Opportunity to lead a meaningful transformation and cultural reset

Competitive compensation and development opportunities

A skilled team and collaborative international environment
