Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and student-focused Special Education Teacher (Mild/Moderate) to join Cabrillo High School within Lompoc Unified School District for the 2026–2027 school year. The selected educator will provide specialized instruction and support in a high school Resource Classroom setting, helping students achieve academic, behavioral, and social-emotional success.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver individualized and small-group instruction to students with Mild/Moderate disabilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, parents, and support staff
- Maintain accurate student records and progress documentation
- Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions
- Support students in achieving academic and behavioral goals
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district special education regulations

Requirements
Required
- Valid California Teaching Credential (CTC) for Mild/Moderate Special Education OR
- Eligibility to obtain a California credential through district-supported credentialing pathways
- Ability to work effectively with high school students in a resource classroom environment
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
Preferred
- Previous experience working in a high school special education setting
- Knowledge of IEP development and special education compliance requirements
