Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and student-focused Special Education Teacher (Mild/Moderate) to join Cabrillo High School within Lompoc Unified School District for the 2026–2027 school year. The selected educator will provide specialized instruction and support in a high school Resource Classroom setting, helping students achieve academic, behavioral, and social-emotional success.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver individualized and small-group instruction to students with Mild/Moderate disabilities
• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, parents, and support staff
• Maintain accurate student records and progress documentation
• Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions
• Support students in achieving academic and behavioral goals
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district special education regulations

Requirements

Required

• Valid California Teaching Credential (CTC) for Mild/Moderate Special Education OR
• Eligibility to obtain a California credential through district-supported credentialing pathways
• Ability to work effectively with high school students in a resource classroom environment
• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills

  Preferred

  • Previous experience working in a high school special education setting
  • Knowledge of IEP development and special education compliance requirements
