Position Summary :

The Basketball Coach will work with a group of children ages 11 to 19 years in the Saturday Night Lights program to plan and implement activities based on identified curricula in a manner that motivates and engages children and strengthens their social-emotional skills.

Responsibilities :

• Understand and promote the organization's Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure alignment with organizational policies and procedures.
• Plan and facilitate basketball practices, drills, and scrimmages for middle and high school students.
• Teach fundamental and advanced basketball skills, emphasizing sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal development.
• Supervise participants to ensure safety and positive behavior on and off the court.
• Assist and supervise students during special projects or field trips.
• Interact, engage and maintain open communication with parents to enable a better understanding of youth needs and how to manage the child / children.
• Attend curriculum / program meetings with the Program Director or relevant personnel on a monthly basis or as otherwise indicated.
• Attend internal and external professional development pertaining to role, including those focused-on alignment of activities with educational standards.
• Ensure all program equipment is cared for and stored properly after use.
• Serve as a positive role model and mentor, encouraging youth to build confidence and healthy habits.
• Work collaboratively with other agency youth programs and partners.
• Be punctual, responsible, maintain a positive attitude, and provide encouragement to all students.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience Previous experience playing and / or coaching basketball required. (required)
