Engineering Technician (Mechanical)

You will serve as Engineering Technician (Mechanical) responsible for quality assurance and contract administration of a variety of mechanical features and related electrical systems installation, conducting site visits for operational tests of installed equipment and systems. Responsibilities include :

• Serve as Office Engineer performing field engineering functions associated with the mechanical and related electrical features of construction operations.
• Observe and investigate construction at all stages to identify problems related to mechanical and electrical systems installation.
• Review designs, drawings, and specifications during planning phase to ensure appropriate requirements are incorporated, as they relate to commissioning of mechanical and electrical systems.
• Review and approve LEED submittals, commissioning / enhanced commissioning plans, and system interface documents to ensure coordination of systems / processes.
• Interpret plans and specifications and confer with contractor to resolve differences of opinion.
• Provide guidance and oversight of integrated commissioning schedules and deconflict requirements to ensure compliance with policies.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience : One year of specialized experience which includes : Applying engineering standards and practices to execute actions for a wide range of construction projects involving mechanical and / or electrical systems installation; Inspecting contractor's work performance and delivered materials and equipment to ensure compliance with plans and specifications; Conducting functional performance tests for installed equipment and systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade / level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement : Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

Education :

Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial / probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. This position requires you to submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE450) upon entry, and annually thereafter. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
