  • Supervise technicians and shop personnel while providing coaching, performance feedback, training, and professional development.
  • Oversee employee scheduling, attendance, productivity, payroll, and performance management.
  • Provide technical guidance on complex diesel diagnostics, repairs, and root cause analysis to support efficient troubleshooting and long-term equipment reliability.
  • Manage warranty repair processes, documentation, and parts retention in accordance with company policies.
  • Partner with parts and inventory personnel to ensure timely procurement of materials while maintaining accurate inventory levels and controlling costs.
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of heavy-duty truck maintenance, diagnostics, repair procedures, and preventative maintenance strategies.
  • Ensure fleet equipment is maintained in a clean, professional, and company-approved condition, including branding and cosmetic appearance.
  • Utilize maintenance management systems and other company software to manage work orders, reporting, inventory, and operational performance.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections and shop audits to ensure compliance with company policies, DOT regulations, OSHA standards, and environmental requirements.
  • Promote a safe, organized, and efficient work environment by maintaining shop cleanliness, organization, and overall facility appearance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve shop processes, technician efficiency, equipment reliability, and overall operational performance.

Requirements:

  • Strong leadership and team development capabilities.
  • Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and employee management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze problems, prioritize work, and make sound operational decisions.
  • Advanced knowledge of diesel engine diagnostics, repair procedures, and fleet maintenance operations.
  • Experience implementing process improvements that increase efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Strong organizational and computer skills, including experience with maintenance management or other Windows-based business systems.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and maintaining a positive, team-oriented culture.
  • Ability to foster collaboration and accountability while meeting operational objectives and customer expectations.

Preferred Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience preferred.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of leadership or management experience within a fleet maintenance, heavy equipment, or commercial vehicle repair environment.
  • Previous experience as a Master Diesel Technician, Senior Heavy Equipment Mechanic, or Steel Fabricator is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success leading maintenance teams in a fast-paced, production-driven operation.
