Senior Director, Business Development

The Senior Director, Business Development will play a pivotal role in driving strategic growth initiatives across Ports & Terminals and Logistics in the Americas. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Business Development - Americas, the role involves identifying and evaluating new business opportunities in Ports & Terminals and on Logistics, meeting with customers, government authorities, Investment / JV partner(s), and the Americas Regional Office (ARO) and business unit leadership teams. The primary focus will be to conduct in-depth industry, market and commercial research, conducting detailed financial and market analyses, and managing project execution to support the company's expansion goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical background, a strategic mindset, and a proven ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of business growth strategies, including greenfield concessions, projects, acquisitions, partnerships, and divestitures
- Conduct and coordinate with internal resources to conduct in depth research, analysis, and due diligence on the relevant asset, geography, market, competitive environment, regulatory environment, engineering & technical matters, operational requirements, and funding alternatives
- Prepare and review detailed / comprehensive three-statement financial models and valuation analyses to assess the viability and potential returns of proposed investments
- Prepare valuation analysis of potential opportunities by applying a variety of techniques including discounted cash flow, dividend discount model, comparable companies, and comparable transactions
- Assist business units in reviewing and criticizing business plans and assumptions, and stress-testing them for variances in key operational and commercial assumptions
- Provide guidance to the region on their projects and their process through the DP World approval process, including preparing project briefs and presentations to secure internal approvals
- Identify and analyze key risks identified in due diligence and potential mitigants including preparing risk matrixes which articulate key risks identified within each project or transaction and mitigating actions (e.g., value adjustment, contractual protections)
- Lead the negotiation and analysis of term sheets and transaction documentation covering, among others, tenders, concessions, financing, share purchase agreements and shareholders agreements.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external advisors to perform due diligence on strategic initiatives
- Provide ongoing monitoring and analysis of existing investments to ensure alignment with strategic goals
- Act as an ambassador for DP World at all times when working; promoting and demonstrating positive behaviors in harmony with DP World's principles, values, and culture; ensuring the highest level of safety is applied in all activities; understanding and following DP World's Code of Conduct and Ethics policies
- Prepare presentations and reports to communicate findings and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders
- Maintain an analytical database for market trends, competitor benchmarks, and project performance.
