We are seeking a Chief Inspector to lead our growing inspection team. If you’re ready to lead with confidence and help shape the future of aviation safety, we’d love to connect now in preparation for our next hiring phase. You will ensure that all maintenance and inspection work meet FAA regulations, technical specifications, and company procedures. You will be both a technical expert and a team-oriented leader – committed to upholding Ascent’s uncompromising standards for safety, quality, and operational excellence as we enter a new year of growth and opportunity.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Manages and coordinates functions of the Quality Control Department including aircraft inspection, component inspection, Non-Destructive Testing, and receiving inspection and the Calibration Laboratory ensuring that all work performed complies with applicable technical data, FAA regulations and repair station procedures.
  • Ensures that all inspections are properly performed as described in the RSM / QCM and applicable technical data.
  • Ensures proper inspection records, reports and forms used by the repair station are properly executed prior to the release of the product for return to service.
  • Maintains active liaison with the FAA on aircraft inspections and ensures FAR required reports are properly completed.
  • Ensures that the QC Authorization Roster and related Employment Summaries are kept current.
  • Ensures inspection personnel are proficient as described within the RSM / QCM.
  • Ensures all persons authorized to approve an article for return to service under the repair station certificate and operations specifications are certificated under FAR Part 65 and able to understand, read, and write English; and listed on the QC Authorization Roster
  • Ensures inspections are performed in accordance with the aircraft operator’s approved inspection program including Required Inspection Items.
  • Maintains a list of current RII inspectors for each operator and ensures proper distribution.
  • Research items that are past due calibration to determine actual status (e.g. lost tool, out for repair, etc.) and ensure all past due equipment is returned to the calibration laboratory.
  • When notified of an out-of-tolerance equipment condition, reviews past use of the device to determine the risk that nonconforming articles were approved.
  • Studies and reviews production schedules and estimates worker-hour requirements for completion of job assignments. Adjusts work procedures as needed and recommends measures for improved efficiency.
  • Develops operating objectives and staffing requirements. Ensures that qualified personnel are selected and that the orientation and on-the-job training programs are conducted and effective.
  • Ensures that training and development needs are identified, and programs initiated.

  • REQUIRED SKILLS / ABILITIES :

  • Manager & Supervisors with the overall responsibility for the financial, safety, quality and employee performance of their operation is the person who ensures Ascent Aviation’s policies and procedures are complied with and ensures Federal, State, and local laws, ordinances and rules are equally enforced and adhered to.
  • The Managers / Supervisors will be responsible to ensure that all required routine performance audits are complied with and are conducted and reported within the specified timeframe. The Managers / Supervisors / Leads shall ensure all corrective action is complied with and maintained in accordance with the agreed plan.
  • Basic computer skills in general office programs (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English, including following verbal and written instructions.
  • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :

  • 3 years of inspection experience in a full-service Part 145 Repair Station, performing airworthiness determinations, major maintenance inspections, heavy check support, and return-to-service documentation in a high-volume MRO environment
  • 2 years of inspection leadership experience, directing inspectors and providing technical oversight
  • Strong working knowledge of 14 CFR Parts 43, 65, and 145; RSM / QCM requirements; maintenance documentation and customer / foreign authority return-to-service requirements
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

  • Requires sitting, standing or walking for extended periods of time.
  • Requires frequent walking, climbing and lifting, bending, reaching to shoulder level, carrying, pushing or pulling weight up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • EQUIPMENT OPERATED :

  • Borescopes for internal inspections, calipers and micrometers for precision measurements, flashlights and magnifying tools for detailed visual checks, and dye penetrant kits for detecting surface cracks.
  • Computer software such as Microsoft, Excel, etc. for tracking, recording and communication.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS :

  • Working locations include aircraft maintenance hangar, maintenance offices, flightline.
  • Potential hazards include exposure to high intensity noise levels, extreme changes in temperature, materials identified on Safety Data Sheets, working around moving machinery.
  • OTHER DUTIES :

  • May be required to work at both Marana, AZ and Tucson, AZ locations as business needs dictate.
  • Additional duties may be assigned at the discretion of department management.
