POSITION TITLE: Plant Manager

LOCATION: Tolleson, AZ

DEPARTMENT: Manufacturing

REPORTS TO: Chief Operations Officer (COO)

Summary:
We're seeking a hands-on Plant Manager to oversee our integrated foam cup, paper cup, and lid manufacturing facility.

Key responsibilities include managing the foam, paper cup, and lid production lines to meet daily volume and quality targets, optimizing the forming equipment to reduce scrap and increase throughput, leading production teams across all processes, maintaining strict safety standards, controlling raw material costs, and ensuring consistent product quality for food service customers.

You'll also drive continuous improvement initiatives, coordinate maintenance across both foam and paper equipment, manage inventory of resins, paperboard, and inks, and partner with sales and supply chain teams on scheduling and new product introductions.

The ideal candidate brings strong leadership experience, proven success in plastics thermoforming and paper converting, a solid understanding of both foam and paper cup production processes, and a track record of improving efficiency, reducing downtime, and maintaining high quality standards in a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
The following are essential job accountabilities:
  • Supervises a team of both exempt managers/supervisors and non-exempt office personnel.
  • Directs all the activity of a plant with approximately 130 team members, engaged in the manufacturing, warehousing and shipping of food service products.
  • Manages and controls inventories of raw material, work-in-process and finished goods
  • Oversees the maintenance of manufacturing equipment, and associated utility systems.
  • Maintains a work place safety record that has as its goal at zero level of recordable injuries and no lost time injuries.
  • Meets the planned objectives set for the plant, with special attention given to the control of those costs that affect plant overhead and products.
  • Maintains product quality to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction, minimal complaints and no lost business due to quality.
  • Ensures that EEOC requirements and affirmative action goals are met and team members are treated in a manner that is fair, equitable and absent of any bias.
  • Plans the production activity of the plant, and schedules the workforce to ensure the timely delivery of all customer orders.
  • Trains and develops personnel at all levels in the organization for successor responsibilities, and for the effective execution of their duties.
  • Develops a cohesive workforce that is motivated, characterized by high morale and a team approach to getting the job done.
  • Adheres to all good manufacturing practices (GMP), food safety, HACCP and SQF process requirements
  • Controls inventory levels for maximum "turns" and minimal product obsolescence.
  • Meets the annual performance objectives set for the plant.
  • Maintains housekeeping standards by keeping a clean work area at all times.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • The ideal candidate will possess 5-7 years of experience as a Plant Manager in a manufacturing environment. Plastics or consumer products industry strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field desired.
  • Strong utility and environmental experience a plus.
  • Excellent mechanical, analytical and problem-solving skills required.
  • Previous experience with lean implementation and plastics experience highly desirable.
  • Must be detail oriented with good oral/written communication skills. Must be fluent in English.
  • Ability to work in a hands-on team environment. Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task effectively.

To be successful in this position, the individual performing the duties must successfully demonstrate the following competencies:
  • Planning and Organizing: Demonstrates ability to plan and organize your own and direct reports work activities; analyze and disseminate numerical data; manage work time efficiently; follow procedures and policies; perform basic mathematical calculations, identify and solve problems.
  • Continuous Improvement: Always drives to improve skills including, but not limited to: manufacturing best-work-practices, Operation efficiency, Project Management, Technical, Internal Systems / Databases, etc. and the ability to adapt as production conditions warrant.
  • Collaborate and Coordinate: Demonstrates an ability to effectively collaborate and coordinate with other department personnel and internal support. This includes utilizing all WinCup resources at your disposal to effectively handle production issues and support.
  • Communication: Must possess excellent interpersonal communication, leadership, business writing, grammar and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong multi-tasking and prioritization skills: Must be detail oriented, a team player and highly deadline driven.
