Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) for a 13-week contract assignment at St Rose Hospital in Hayward, California. This role involves working within a dynamic hospital environment, providing essential rehabilitative services to patients. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with Occupational Therapists to implement individualized treatment plans, focusing on improving patients' ability to perform daily living activities and regain functional independence. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to patient recovery and well-being in a supportive clinical setting. Key Responsibilities Implement occupational therapy treatment plans under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. Assist patients with therapeutic exercises, activities of daily living (ADLs), and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs). Educate patients and their families on compensatory strategies, adaptive equipment use, and home exercise programs. Monitor patient progress, document observations, and report changes in status to the supervising Occupational Therapist. Collaborate effectively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure comprehensive patient care. Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients. Required Qualifications Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program. Minimum of 1-2 years of recent experience as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in a clinical setting. Preferred Qualifications Not specified. Skills & Competencies Proficiency in therapeutic exercise techniques and modalities. Competence in assisting with ADL/IADL training and adaptive equipment instruction.
