Description
As a Civil / RailEngineering Specialist you will be responsible forsupporting / leading the design of railway infrastructures. Your role involves ensuring that rail projects comply withdesign criteria and standards, meet quality standards, and adhere to project timelines and budgets. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver efficient and sustainable rail solutions.
Responsibilities :
Design Development : Utilize engineering principles and software tools to develop
comprehensiverailway track designs including designs for bridges, tunnels, stations, and associated structures.
Design Support During Construction : Respond to information requests from Prime Contractorsduringthe construction phase, review andall shop plans andreceived from.
Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA / QC) : Comply with QA / QC procedures to monitor the quality of documents, workmanship, and construction processes throughout the project lifecycle.
Documentation : Prepare engineering reports, drawings, specifications, and other project documentation in accordance with organizational standards and client requirements.
Continuous Improvement : Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in railway engineering, and incorporate innovative solutions to enhance project efficiency and sustainability.
Secondary Responsibilities :
Leadership : Supervise and mentor junior engineers and technical staff, fostering a supportive and productive work environment
Regulatory Compliance : Lead and provide guidance to ensure that projects comply with local, national, and international regulations, codes, and standards related to safety, accessibility, and environmental impact.
Risk Assessment : Helpidentify potential risks and challenges associated with railway projects and develop mitigation strategies to address them effectively.
Budget and Schedule Management : Assist project managers in monitoring project budgets and schedules, track expenses, and identify opportunities for cost savings and schedule optimization
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
3-7 years of experience in railway engineering, with a focus on designand design services during construction,
3+ year proficiency in engineering software such asMicroStation, InRail,Open Rail,AutoCAD, Civil 3D.
Knowledge of railway standards and regulations, including AREMA, CPUC, AAR, and FRA requirements as well as agency standards such as Metrolink, LA Metro, UPRR, BNSF.
Problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to diverse audiences.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and project goals.
Preferred Qualifications :
Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 1 year.
