Job description

Project Manager, Site / Civil Engineering

Strong communities don't just happen. They're thoughtfully planned and future-ready. We bring life to urban downtowns, suburban hubs, small towns, and rural areas through master-planned communities, mixed-use developments, parks, and recreation facilities. The result: vibrant economic centers, resilient neighborhoods, and welcoming places that feel like home. If you're passionate about empowering communities, join us to discover a career with endless opportunities to make communities more equitable, resilient, and livable.

Stantec's Tallahassee office has an exciting new opportunity for a Project Manager, Site / Civil Engineering. In this role, you'll manage a range of fascinating projects including site development, municipal utilities, parks and trails, and federal facilities. This position may be based in Tallahassee, Tampa, Orlando or Jacksonville, Florida. Key clients for our Tallahassee office include the City of Tallahassee, Leon County, electrical power systems through North Florida, architecture firms, and others. Additionally, the Tallahassee office is one of Stantec's key centers of expertise for federal projects, especially those serving the US Department of Defense.

This position offers career development, the opportunity to expand the practice, and has the potential of participation in our leadership recognition program. The ideal candidate will come with a background in supporting or leading the civil/site engineering aspects for a variety of projects, with a foundation of strong engineering/design skills. He/she will have been exposed to the entire project delivery process, including marketing/business development, client interaction, project management, internal team building and hands on design/engineering supervision.

Tallahassee is located in the beautiful Red Hills region of North Florida, which the Nature Conservancy has called "one of America's last great places." As the capitol city of Florida and the home of two major Universities, Tallahassee offers an affordable and highly livable community within a short distance of some of Florida's most unspoiled coastline.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Execute project delivery and direct supervision over the output of professional and technical staff on projects.
  • Lead, coordinate, and delegate proposal, contract, administration, and project management efforts.
  • Collaborate with other internal disciplines and sub-consultants.
  • Professional engineering design and project oversight including Quality Assurance and Quality Control.
  • Infrequent travel for meetings and supporting teams in other offices.
  • Supervise and mentor less experienced staff.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Demonstrated project management and business development experience to nurture existing clients and develop new multi-disciplined opportunities to expand the practice including developing, recommending, and introducing innovation to our clients' projects.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact with project teams as well as clients, including representing clients during public meetings and events.
  • Capability with AutoCAD / Civil 3D, Microsoft Office, and Bluebeam are desired.
  • Efficient project management of multiple concurrent projects.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer.
  • 10+ years of progressive civil engineering design experience with an emphasis in land development / site development.

Note: Position will primarily work in an office setting; may require some field work. Hybrid work schedule available, with minimum 3 days per week in the office.
