Marine Claims Investigator
PRIMARY PURPOSE : To conduct thorough marine claims investigations, analyze case details, collect witness statements, perform examinations under oath, and execute in-depth background checks.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Inspect the loss site to assess damages, documenting how injuries or damages occurred, and understanding the context of these incidents through onsite inspection and relevant documentation.
- Conduct interviews with involved parties, documenting statements to guide settlement decisions and next steps.
- Prepare detailed reports to communicate findings with internal adjusters and external clients, including insured parties and relevant stakeholders.
- Perform background checks using online resources to evaluate claims and advise clients on outcomes related to policy language.
- Manage medical claims under P&I coverage, gathering medical documents and assessing long-term care needs for injured parties.
- Evaluate shipping and seaman claims for lost wages, ensuring fair compensation based on marine investigation expertise.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
QUALIFICATIONS :
Education & Licensing : A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred. Private investigator licensing (40-hour course) or relevant class C investigator licensing is a plus.
Experience : A minimum of four years in a related field or a combination of education and experience is required.
