JOB OVERVIEW :

Spanglers Market is seeking a reliable, customer-focused Produce Clerk to join our friendly team in Half Moon Bay, CA. This full-time, morning-to-day shift position is perfect for someone who enjoys working in a grocery store environment, takes pride in maintaining fresh, well-stocked produce displays, and values excellent customer service.

JOB DESCRIPTION :

Job Title : Produce Clerk

FLSA Status : Non-exempt

Training Rate : $17.50 per hour

Hourly Range (after completion of training) : $18.50-$22.00 per hour, based on experience

    • ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Answers customer questions, directs customers to the items they are looking for, documents customer requests and listens to customer complaints if a management team member is unavailable.
  • Properly uses knives, sinks, price guns, and irrigation and climate control equipment
  • Ensures product is placed and organized in the produce area, cuts and preps produce, removes old produce and properly displays on shelves,
  • Preps juice machine and prepares juices
  • Bags or wraps purchases for customer or for display
  • Dynamically sells product by providing customers with information needed to make product-related decisions
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds

    • CLEANLINESS & SAFETY :

  • Fulfills sanitation and safety guidelines
  • Keeps the store in a clean, orderly condition during the shift and ensures that spills, debris, and hazardous conditions are cleaned and picked up
  • Cleans cases, bins, tables, coolers, and shelves
  • Mops and sweeps the sales floor, stockroom, and dairy coolers
  • Operates equipment such as a pallet jack and other backroom equipment safely, without leading to injury to oneself or others
  • Protects the safety of oneself, co-workers, and Spanglers Market patrons at all times, and reports safety-related accidents and incidents to management immediately
  • Follows all company and safety policies and procedures, and reports safety-related accidents and incidents at once to supervisor

    • ADDITIONAL EXPECTATIONS :

  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment breakdowns during shift and reports these incidents to management promptly
  • If a potential shoplifter is identified, uses CB to advise a management team member
  • Follows all company policies and procedures and maintains open communication with management and the ownership team
  • Attends staff meetings as scheduled
  • Assists in other duties as assigned

    • QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Strong front-facing customer service skills and effective communication abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team setting.
  • Experiences in stocking and produce are a plus but will train.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age to operate back room equipment including the pallet jack in compliance to labor laws.
