Client Advocate (Large and Complex Segment)

The Client Advocate (Large and Complex Segment) role is a senior client-facing role responsible for directly supporting the Construction Commercial Property and Casualty insurance client relationship management efforts, leading placement and broking functions, and coordinating all service activity at the program level. As a vital member of the client service team, the Client Advocate plays a crucial role in facilitating the implementation of program-level strategy and delivering tactical deliverables tailored to the needs of our clients.

Note: Employment-based non-immigrant visa sponsorship and/or assistance is not offered for this specific job opportunity.

The Role

  • Prepare and lead internal strategy meetings, providing program-level oversight, delivery and review of current program, expiring exposures, client service agreements, menu of services offered and client service plan.
  • Collaborate with Producers or Senior Client Advocates to prepare and participate in external strategy meetings. Maintain in-session documentation, and ensure that meeting outcomes and next steps are clearly defined and communicated at the conclusion.
  • Ensure timely completion of updated exposures and coverage information. Coordinate responses with various client contacts, locations, and divisions.
  • Prepare submission/coverage specifications and submit proposals to carriers for quotes.
  • Receive quotes from carriers, negotiate for the best program for clients, and provide coverage comparisons.
  • Oversee the design and preparation of draft proposals; negotiate and finalize carrier quotes, terms, conditions, and coverage confirmations to ensure contract certainty.
  • Ensure the timely receipt of the Order to Bind from the client. Oversee the delivery of confirmation of coverage and binders. Provide guidance to the Client Manager and Line of Business (LOB) brokers throughout the binding process, including addressing program subjectivities as needed.
  • Provide oversight during the Final Review process with the Servicing team, as applicable.
  • Submit mid-term policy changes to carriers based on client needs. Track the receipt of endorsements and review for accuracy.
  • Manage and oversee the timely and accurate completion of endorsement and audit requests.
  • Provide oversight, guidance, and/or conduct contract reviews.
  • Oversee the client open items list. Provide leadership and support for ongoing client projects, ensuring subsequent reporting and analysis, such as the Client Advocacy/Stewardship Report.
  • Lead periodic client open items meetings with a frequency/cadence agreed upon with the client.
  • Coordinate and facilitate meetings, seminars, and other engagement-type activities for clients.
  • Request, schedule, attend, and actively participate in regular client and underwriter meetings.
  • Conduct program peer reviews to enhance overall quality and effectiveness.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to junior brokers and service team members.
  • Maintain and develop strong business relationships with Senior Client Advocates, Producers, and Senior Underwriting contacts.

The Requirements

  • Eight to ten years of client-facing experience in the insurance industry, with a focus on Property and Casualty; a valid Property and Casualty license is mandatory.
  • Desired expertise in Construction and Real Estate within the insurance sector.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in insurance, including the ability to apply knowledge of coverage forms for comprehensive program design, identify coverage gaps, and provide ongoing coverage consultation.
  • Proven excellence in interpreting, analyzing and presenting insurance models in a logical and systematic manner.
  • In-depth understanding of the entire end-to-end commercial insurance renewal process.
  • Strong leadership capabilities within Servicing function, including delegation, coaching and mentoring.
  • Demonstrated organizational leadership and influence, particularly with matrixed collaborations with colleagues such as Broking.
  • Proven negotiation skills, with the ability to drive conflict resolution and secure concessions without damaging relationships.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, encompassing critical thinking, adaptability and creativity.
  • Proficient in project management, including attention to detail, organization, time management, prioritization, delegating and decision-making.
  • Intermediate+ proficiency in Microsoft Office, with particular experience in Excel including pivot tables, formulas, macros, etc.
  • Openness to feedback, with critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and a high level of adaptability.
  • Insurance industry designations (e.g., CRIS, CPCU, ARM, CIC, CRM) preferred but not required.
