Speech Language Pathology Assistant

The SLPA will work under the supervision of a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP). The SLPA will assist in treatment planning and ongoing management of patients receiving Speech Therapy. The SLPA will also implement treatment plans for patients who have been evaluated by the Speech Language Pathologist.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist speech-language pathologists in the assessment and treatment of speech, language, cognitive and voice disorders. Implement speech and language programs or activities as planned and directed by speech-language pathologists
  • Assist speech-language pathologists in the conduct of client screenings or assessments of language, voice, fluency, articulation, or hearing
  • Implement treatment plans or protocols as directed by speech-language pathologists
  • Assist speech-language pathologists in the remediation or development of speech and language skills
  • Collect and compile data to document clients' performance or assess program quality
  • Document clients' progress toward meeting established treatment objectives
  • Test or maintain equipment to ensure correct performance
  • Assist speech-language pathologists in the conduct of speech-language research projects
  • Conduct in-service training sessions, or family and community education programs
  • Perform support duties such as preparing materials, keeping records, maintaining supplies, and scheduling activities
  • Prepare charts, graphs, or other visual displays to communicate clients' performance information
  • Assist the speech-language pathologists during assessment of students, patients, and clients exclusive of administration and/or interpretation
  • Follow documented treatment plans or protocols developed by the supervising SLP
  • Document student, patient, and client performance (e.g., tallying data for the SLP to use; preparing charts, records, and graphs) and report this information to the supervising SLP
  • Demonstrate or share information with patients, families, and staff regarding feeding strategies developed and directed by the SLP
  • Assist with clerical duties, such as preparing materials and scheduling activities, as directed by the SLP
  • Perform checks and maintenance of equipment
  • Assist with departmental operations (scheduling, recordkeeping, safety/maintenance of supplies and equipment)

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited Speech program
  • Current Texas licensure as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant by the Texas Board of Speech Pathology and Hearing Examiners or be an eligible candidate
  • Proven Speech Language Pathology field
  • Proven excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport and communicate effectively with clients, families, and interdisciplinary teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years in the Speech Language Pathology field
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Willingness to cover two locations/clinics

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $17.98 to $32.12 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
