The Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for several Instructor positions in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Expertise is required in the specific area of statistics or biostatistics. Areas we are currently focusing on include, but are not limited to, imaging statistics, causal inference, and AI with applications within biostatistics. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.
Responsibilities may include leadership and collaboration in the development and application of advanced statistical methodology. The ability to establish oneself as a research leader in their area of specialization is required and developing a research portfolio through publication in leading journals and acquiring research funding to support this program are expected. Presentations at national and international scientific meetings are also required to demonstrate innovation and impact.
The successful applicant will have an opportunity to collaborate with and, potentially, mentor students and postdoctoral researchers; and develop an independent research program with opportunities to write and submit articles to peer-reviewed publications as well as participate in writing grant applications.
