The University of Missouri School Of Medicine Department of Ophthalmology
Job Description
Department desires to hire part timetechnicians to provide support for ophthalmologists and / or optometrists. Duties may include the following :
- Conduct preliminary patient interviews and record relevant data such as chief complaint, health history, medications, and allergies for the physician's review. Measure vitals when necessary.
- Prepare patient and exam rooms for all procedures and provide assistance to physicians for procedures.
- Clean and restock exam rooms including restock of supplies, equipment and medications.
- Review expiration dates of supplies and medication and take appropriate action.
- Conduct a variety of eye examinations and testing as directed by physician.
- Photographs medical phenomena of eye to document diseases, surgeries, treatments, and congenital problems.
- Focuses specialized microscope and cameras to take two- three-dimensional photographs of external, anterior and posterior segments of eye.
- Monitors patients gaze through lens of microscope camera to make sure that patient complies with instructions to obtain desired results.
- May photograph eye to document research studies.
- Assist physicians as required and perform all other duties as assigned.
Shift
Shifts will vary, Monday - Friday, 8 : 00 a.m. to 5 : 00 p.m. Up to 20 hours per week.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Anticipated Hiring Range
Hiring Range : $18.50-$34.18 (hourly)
