Philadelphia FIGHT needs Medical Assistants to provide coverage in many of FIGHT's primary care spaces. We seek professional, open-minded, and reliable workers. Schedule: Full-time, Monday - Friday (9:00AM - 5:00PM)

• Location: Candidates can expect placements at one of the following work site locations located on 1233 Locust St & 1207 Chestnut St, Philadelphia, PA 19107:
• The Jonathan Lax Treatment Center offers integrated, patient-centered medical care, and social services to people living with HIV. We see patients from all walks of life and our team of dedicated providers work to address the unique needs of each individual patient.
• The John Bell Health Center is a comprehensive medical clinic that provides primary health care to adults aged 18 and older. The John Bell Health Center was established to provide care to individuals living with chronic health conditions as a result of socio-economic factors including a history of incarceration.
• The Sam Morales Clinic will open in early 2026 and provide urgent medical care services to returning citizens, or individuals who have recently been released from incarceration.
• The Pediatric and Adolescent Health Center provides high quality, comprehensive, primary care to address the physical and emotional health needs of children from birth through age 18. The pediatrics clinic was added in 2017 and is co-located with Y-HEP's Adolescent and Young Adult Health Center.
• The Y-HEP Adolescent and Young Adult Health Center services adolescents and young adults (ages 13-26), providing access to comprehensive primary care, sexual and reproductive health services, integrated behavioral health, PrEP, and other relevant social services.

Compensation & Benefits:

• FSLA status is non-exempt with an hourly rate of $22-24.

Requirements:

1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
2. Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant Certification.
3. Must possess CPR/Basic Life Support/AED certification for adults and children within sixty days of hire.
4. 3+ years of related experience, experience as a Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist strongly preferred.
5. General knowledge of science, medicine, and medical clinic workflows.
6. Must possess basic computer skills to perform job duties including desktop computing, e-mail, time sheet management, reporting, internet research, etc. using relevant software such as Electronic Medical Records, HRIS and Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
7. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and emergency situations successfully.
8. Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and excellent customer service.
9. Ability to demonstrate cultural competency and understanding of a trauma-informed, harm-reduction approach to health care.
10. Ability to remain organized.
11. Must be able to exercise good judgment and identify when to escalate issues as appropriate.
12. Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices such as OSHA, HIPAA, CLIA and funding body regulations.
13. Strong skillsets in interpersonal relationships and teamwork, attention to detail, customer service, time management, autonomy and problem solving.
14. Discretion, initiative, and ability to maintain HIPAA compliance.
15. If stationed in the pediatric unit, knowledgeable of Vaccine for Children standards, policies, and procedures required.

Responsibilities include:

1. Greets and escorts patients to the appropriate exam rooms.
2. Conducts vital checks including blood pressure, temperature, pulse oximetry, height and weight.
3. Upon request from providers and/or nurses, completes labs, EKGs, urine dips and pregnancy checks, random blood glucose checks, rapid A1C testing, rapid urine drug screens, etc. as required; conduct Clinical Decision Support System portion of provider visit if requested or if time allows.
4. Administers injections and vaccinations in compliance with vaccine administration policies and procedures; completes vaccine abstraction on all patients needing updated vaccine records in the Electronic Medical Record.
5. Provides basic wound care.
6. Documents all activities related to patient care appropriately in the Electronic Medical Record and within the established timeframe set forth by FIGHT policy.
7. Acts as a chaperone for sensitive exams (i.e., Nexplanon placement, genital exams, pap smears).
8. Ensure exam rooms and/or nursing triage rooms are orderly and fully stocked with basic first aid items, specimen collection items and bags, chucks, exam table paper, gowns, wound care kits, oxygen supplies, nebulizer supplies, Narcan, syringes and needles; prepares EKG machines with paper and electrodes.
9. Maintains and cleans medical laboratory equipment and exam rooms (e.g., medical beds, centrifuges, refrigerators, freezers) in collaboration with the other medical assistants; ensures temperature of refrigerators are within acceptable range.
10. Builds and maintains working relationship with consultants, including Stericycle and LabCorp to ensure proper waste disposal and specimen collection and supply stock.
11. Complete daily Chart Prep, Vaccination Abstraction, and Inventory Counts.
12. Monitors all assigned Teams chats and responds when needed in a timely manner.
13. Notifies Practice Managers of incidents and/or patient complaints.
14. Collects and processes blood samples from patients, which may include delivering specimens to pick up locations; coordinates care for patients needing lab visits and at off-site labs.
15. If stationed in the pediatric unit, assists providers with exam room procedures (ear irrigation, suture/staple removals, etc.)
16. Provides backup coverage to other clinics as needed.
17. Act as a Patient Educator for services/procedures that patients will receive in office.
18. Tracks and facilitates legal and regulatory compliance for assigned clinic (e.g., HIPAA, OSHA, CLIA, informed consent).
19. Provide assessment of clinical workflows and equipment.
20. Depending on clinic and patient flow, may be responsible for check-in duties.
21. Depending on clinic, may be responsible for managing a waiting list of guests within a homeless drop-in center ensuring all patients are being processed appropriately.
22. Abides by all compliance standards including but not limited to completing training and attending all required staff meetings, supervision meetings and/or daily huddles.
23. Upholds and ensures compliance and attention to all FIGHT policies and procedures as well as the overall mission and values of the organization.
24. Other duties as assigned to fulfill FIGHT's mission.
