Senior Director, Office of Mental Health

As a senior director of the office of mental health, you will oversee the daily operations of the office in Savannah and Atlanta. Based in Savannah, you will direct a comprehensive clinical system encompassing approximately 2530 staff and interns, overseeing their professional development and providing evaluations. You will set departmental goals, manage budgets, and ensure clinical consistency and policy alignment across both locations. You will be responsible for the vision and completion of daily operations; triage, crisis, and clinical services; and the integration of outreach, prevention, case management, and training programs. Additionally, you will drive innovation and continuous improvement to ensure a high standard of mental health care across the university.

In this role, you will coordinate and serve in the on-call rotation for student counseling emergencies. Responsibilities include oversight of departmental outreach and referrals, management of the intern training program, and the creation of departmental reports. You will handle the interviewing, hiring, and training of employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; and addressing complaints and resolving problems. Additionally, you will manage student employees in accordance with the university's student employment supervision guidelines. Informing your supervisor of staff development needs is crucial to this role. As needed, you will provide individual and group counseling. Among other duties, you will act as the primary liaison among internal departments to promote student success and safety and manage weekly case conferences. You will also implement and lead regularly scheduled departmental meetings.

In this position, you will organize in-service dates and trainings as needed and ensure prompt documentation of student contact in the Titanium computerized documentation system. Similarly, you will keep an up-to-date schedule in Titanium for daily job tasks and activities. Responsibilities include participation in department performance improvement initiatives as assigned and the preparation of PRs for supervisor approvals. Staying current with the latest trends in college counseling through appropriate listservs, conferences, and peer-reviewed publications is required. Additionally, you will maintain contracts with outside providers, such as after-hours answering services, and handle updates to the electronic medical records system.

Minimum qualifications:

• Master's or doctoral degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field
• At least six years of experience in clinical mental health counseling
• Eligible to supervise counseling, mental health, and psychotherapy staff

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience in higher education

Certificates, licenses, and registrations:

• Georgia clinical licensure in counseling, psychology, or social work
• Certified professional counselor supervisor (CPCS) or related supervision credentials/experience
• Acceptable licenses may include a licensed psychologist (Ph.D. or PsyD), a licensed professional counselor (LPC, LCMHC, LMHC), or a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW).

Travel required: 1020%

Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
