Job Type: Full-time

Description:

RxSight® is an innovative ophthalmic medical technology company that has introduced the world's first and only adjustable intraocular lens (IOL) customized post-cataract surgery. Our mission is to transform the premium cataract surgery experience, enabling surgeons to partner with their patients to achieve optimized results tailored to each unique eye.

OVERVIEW:

The Clinical Affairs Training Expert (CATE) is dedicated to delivering exceptional training and clinical support to physicians and their teams to drive the adoption of our LAL technology. This position involves hands-on support during procedures, comprehensive training for staff, conducting clinical evaluations, managing post-operative follow-ups, and addressing patient counseling—all while focusing on continuous improvement of patient outcomes.

The CATE plays a vital role in ensuring high-quality and consistent implementation of LAL-specific clinical methods while facilitating smooth operational integration of our technology within each practice. Responsibilities include enhancing clinical efficiency, implementing effective adoption strategies, and ensuring that assigned accounts achieve key clinical performance benchmarks. The role includes identifying clinical or operational challenges to adoption and promoting growth within established practices, ensuring long-term success through diligent clinical oversight.

Performance metrics will include growth in LAL adoption, adherence to clinical best practices, and patient outcomes. This role requires collaboration with Sales, Customer Development Managers, and various internal departments to align account strategies, thereby ensuring seamless clinical implementation. Maintaining open communication with customers is essential to ensure their feedback is actively integrated into our processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide training for physicians and staff on RxSight technology, best practices, and tips for success.
  • Collaborate with Customer Development Managers (CDMs) to implement LAL adoption strategies, identifying training gaps and tracking performance metrics.
  • Work together to develop and execute personalized 30/60/90-day clinical adoption plans tailored to each customer's growth objectives.
  • Engage with customer sites to ensure readiness for technology onboarding by identifying key personnel and setting clear expectations.
  • Co-manage the introduction of new customers alongside CDMs, providing ongoing training and ensuring compliance with current Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Conduct regular assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of clinical training programs.
  • Assist with customer complaint management by gathering data and offering insights on potential solutions for escalated clinical issues.
  • Deliver clinical support and training on patient selection, implantation, postoperative evaluations, and LDD treatments, ensuring consistency across accounts.
  • Offer strategies and feedback to enhance clinical methodologies, optimizing the outcomes of RxSight technology.
  • Monitor and update the Training Portal (RxConnect) in real-time to accurately reflect training activities and readiness of customer sites.
  • Participate in site-level business reviews, providing feedback on clinical performance to inform account strategy.
  • Maintain accountability for LAL growth and clinical execution within assigned accounts, proactively addressing barriers to adoption.
  • Conduct outcome analyses and present findings to demonstrate the clinical effectiveness of the LAL.
  • Ensure appropriate use and distribution of marketing and patient education materials.
  • Perform periodic cycle counts of LAL inventory, ensuring accurate reporting.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to communicate effectively across various levels, including surgeons, clinical staff, and facility administrators.
  • Extensive clinical experience in cataract surgery planning, refractions, biometry, and device operations.
  • Strong understanding of the cataract diagnostic process and patient flow at the clinic level.
  • Familiarity with the operating room environment related to cataract surgery.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to approximately 75% of the time.
  • Six or more years of clinical experience in the ophthalmic industry.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel without restrictions.
  • Capability to analyze clinical performance trends and implement targeted strategies to boost LAL usage.
  • Proven skill in collaborating across functions to implement adoption strategies.
  • Experience with CRM tools and clinical documentation.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This position does not involve direct supervisory roles but encourages ownership of assigned accounts and leading the execution of daily training activities.
  • The individual will support new customer onboarding and practice development in cooperation with CDMs and Clinical Affairs Liaisons.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and TRAINING:

  • BSc in Optometry, Master of Optometry, or BA/BS (preferred).
  • Three to five years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Solid background in manifest refractions.
  • Completion of training as outlined in the position's training plan.
  • Mandatory completion of insider trading, anti-bribery, and business conduct training within 30 days of hire and annually afterward.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Formal training in vision sciences from a recognized optometry program or industry training is highly desirable (e.g., OD/COT/COA/COMT/CCOA).

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with CRM tools and commercial database solutions.

PERFORMANCE METRICS AND EXPECTATIONS:

  • Achieve quarterly and real-time LAL unit growth targets across assigned accounts.
  • Execute comprehensive clinical training and onboarding activities aligned with adoption plans.
  • Participate in business reviews and work with Sales and CDMs to enhance LAL performance.
  • Demonstrate the ability to overcome operational challenges affecting LAL utilization.
  • Provide timely and precise reports on training activities and performance trends.
  • Deliver consistent clinical support, ensuring patient safety practices are upheld, as measured by quality feedback and customer satisfaction.
