Virginia Oncology Associates, the largest group of medical professionals in Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina devoted exclusively to cancer care and blood disorders, has an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Research Specialist supporting our office in Norfolk.

Responsibilities

  • Perform study-related tasks in accordance with protocol requirements, including, but not limited to Quality of Life assessments, vital signs, ECGs, and other protocol-specific tasks.
  • Collect source data from referring physicians and hospitals that is critical for determination of study eligibility and ongoing patient care.
  • Maintain regular communication with Clinical Research Coordinator II/Senior and/or Clinical Research Nurse in relation to assigned tasks and in compliance with study protocols.
  • Participate in required training and education programs, as well as monitoring and auditing activities.
  • Participate in scheduling patient visits in accordance with patient plan of treatment and study protocol requirements.
  • Perform the preparation, collection, processing, and shipment of lab specimens to central vendors in accordance with study lab manuals. Will be required to complete IATA training.
  • Responsible for study lab kit inventory management.
  • Travel to other research offices and area hospitals, as needed to assist with study-related tasks and courier critical kits, samples.

Qualifications

Minimum Job Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

  • Five years of experience in a clinical setting as a Medical Assistant, Pharmacy Tech, Patient Care Assistant, Phlebotomist, or equivalent discipline.
  • Associate degree preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with multiple people on varying levels
  • High level of attention to detail
