The Lulus software development team is looking for a Software Engineer to join our focused, talented, and fun group. The team is passionate about driving business value, shown by clear results we can all understand and quantify. We have a high level of ownership over our work across the team and are involved with all aspects of delivering quality, timely software.

This is a highly collaborative position, working closely with various functional areas at Lulus. position works directly with Product Management and QA teams. You will be working on projects from start to end, including testing and documentation. We have a supportive culture, and encourage questions and collaboration across all members and roles. You will also have the opportunity to work across multiple codebases, languages, architectures, API services, cloud-based systems, and of course, our flagship service Lulus.com.

What You’ll Do

• Develop software solutions by studying information needs; conferring with product managers and users; studying systems flow, data usage and work processes; investigating problem areas; following the software development lifecycle

• Determine technical feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions

• Document and demonstrate solutions by developing documentation, layouts, diagrams, code comments, and clear code

• Update skills and job knowledge by studying state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques, and computing architectures; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations

• Provide information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing development and service issues.

• Work collaboratively with others to achieve goals

• Make informed decisions quickly and take ownership of services and applications

• Be a persistent, creative problem solver

• Balance software quality vs shipping speed

• Plan, estimate, and budget all work to be completed on time. The Software Engineer tests all software changes end-to-end.

• OOP or Functional programming and modeling

What You’ll Need

• B.S. Computer Science or equivalent on-the-job experience

• 4+ years of experience in software development

• Knowledge in modern server-side language(s) (NodeJS, PHP preferred)

• Knowledge in a modern Web Frontend (Vue, React, Angular)

• Strong knowledge of JavaScript/HTML/CSS

• Experience creating and optimizing performant SQL

• Efficient time-management skills

• Ability to give proactive updates on daily work to both managers and stakeholders

• Ability to work independently and within agile team constructs in fast-paced, collaborative environments

• Proven ability to track project progress and keep notes using project management software

Nice to Have - Bonus Points

• Experience authoring/writing APIs, service-oriented architecture and system design

• Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS, GCP, or Azure

• Experience with Docker

• Experience and a passion for Agile development methodologies

• Experience using JIRA
