Job description
Eleven Recruiting is seeking a Lead Welder to drive high-performance fabrication operations within a precision-driven, fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for executing complex welding and custom fabrication while leading a team to meet aggressive production schedules without compromising quality.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader with deep expertise in welding processes, strong blueprint interpretation skills, and a proven ability to elevate team performance, enforce quality standards, and optimize throughput in a low-volume, high-mix production setting.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform advanced welding and fabrication using GMAW (MIG) and GTAW (TIG) across steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
  • Interpret and execute work from engineering drawings, CAD models, and specifications, including developing approaches where procedures are not fully defined.
  • Accurately measure, cut, fit, and assemble components to tight tolerances.
  • Perform in-process and final quality inspections, ensuring all weldments meet structural and dimensional requirements.
  • Provide daily direction, guidance, and technical support to welding team members.
  • Assist in task assignment, work prioritization, and schedule execution to meet production targets.
  • Support onboarding and training of new hires; reinforce best practices and standardized work.
  • Partner with leadership to coach, mentor, and develop team capability.
  • Reducing rework and defects.
  • Improving cycle times and throughput.
  • Enhancing workflow efficiency and shop organization.
  • Proactively identify and resolve production issues, escalating risks as needed.
  • Maintain a high standard of workmanship, safety, and accountability across the team.
  • Act as a key liaison between engineering, production, and leadership.
  • Provide regular updates on production status, constraints, and resource needs.
  • Support conflict resolution and reinforce adherence to company policies and performance expectations.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • AWS (American Welding Society) Certification preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years of metal fabrication and welding experience.
  • Prior experience in automotive, motorsports, aerospace, or high-performance manufacturing environments.
  • Proficiency in GMAW (MIG) and GTAW (TIG) welding processes.
  • Strong experience welding steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and CAD-based documentation.
  • Skilled in precision measurement tools and fabrication techniques.
  • Solid understanding of quality control standards and dimensional tolerancing.
  • Experience working in manufacturing environments with tight timelines and quality expectations.
  • Exposure to aerospace processes or standards is highly preferred.
  • Experience with mechanical assembly is a plus.

Salary: $85,000 - $110,000
