The Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis, the leading champion of empowerment and opportunity for African Americans and others throughout the region in securing economic self-reliance, social equality and civil rights, is seeking a highly motivated individual with a passion for helping others to join our team as a Community Outreach Specialist in our East St. Louis, IL office.
The Community Outreach Specialist works with community action groups, to include auxiliaries of the agency, to coordinate and develop programs to assist neighborhoods with the development and implementation of community-based action plans for neighborhood stabilization.
The Specialist will :
- Assist with identifying, researching, defining, and analyzing community needs and challenges
- Act as a liaison to affiliate organizations and other community groups to provide information and resources to the community
- Coordinate and host community events in partnership with other agencies
- Establish and maintain a database of community partners with which to coordinate events
- Collect information regarding demographics of attendees of hosted events
- Implement ongoing departmental programs consistent with the Agency's mission
- Assist in identifying community resources to undertake collaborative efforts
- Perform the day-to-day operations of the program to meet contractual goals and objectives, as well as perform other duties as assigned
