Description

The Employee Relations & Engagement Specialist fosters a compliant, respectful, and engaging workplace by managing employee relations matters, conducting investigations, and elevating the employee voice. This role partners with leaders and employees to address concerns, ensure consistent application of policies, and support fair and compliant practices. The role also analyzes employee feedback to identify trends, strengthen engagement and retention, and inform action, while supporting federal, state, and local compliance efforts, including administration of compliance tools.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm (onsite)

Pay Range: $65,000-$70,000/annually

Essential Job Duties

  • Conduct prompt, thorough, and objective investigations into employee complaints, including harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and policy violations; document findings and partner on appropriate outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate, consistent, and confidential documentation of employee relations cases, investigations, and outcomes.
  • Interpret and apply company policies and procedures; partner with HR Business Partners to ensure consistent, fair, and compliant application across the organization.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to managers on employee relations matters, including handling sensitive situations, delivering feedback, and navigating performance or conduct concerns.
  • Partner with HR Business Partners to support performance management processes, including performance improvement plans (PIPs), corrective actions, and terminations, ensuring consistency and compliance.
  • Provide employee counseling and coaching on workplace behavior, communication, and expectations when appropriate.
  • Facilitate conflict resolution discussions and mediation to address workplace concerns and improve working relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and internal policies; partner with Legal and People & Culture leadership on complex or high-risk matters.
  • Serve as administrator for GovDocs, ensuring required postings are maintained and compliance updates are communicated appropriately.
  • Analyze employee engagement surveys, pulse surveys, exit surveys, and other feedback tools to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Design and facilitate stay interviews, focus groups, and listening sessions to gather insights into employee experience, engagement, and retention.
  • Synthesize employee feedback and employee relations trends into clear insights and recommendations to improve engagement, culture, and retention.
  • Develop and deliver reporting (e.g., quarterly employee experience insights, turnover, etc.) to highlight key themes, risks, and opportunities for leadership.
  • Partner with HR Business Partners and leaders to translate insights into actionable plans and support implementation of engagement and retention initiatives.
  • Deliver or support training on topics such as respectful workplace behavior, conflict management, and policy awareness to strengthen manager capability and reduce risk.
  • Support initiatives that promote a positive, inclusive, and respectful workplace culture and proactively identify opportunities to improve the employee experience.

Required Qualifications Required qualifications to effectively perform the job. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered. (Additional requirements may be designated by position.)

  • This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Must have 3-5 years of experience in Human Resources with experience in employee relations, investigations, or engagement.
  • Experience conducting workplace investigations and advising on relations matters.
  • Experience analyzing employee feedback and facilitating discussions such as focus groups or listening sessions.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities May be representative, but not all-inclusive, of those knowledge, skills and abilities commonly associated with this position.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and other general office equipment.
  • Strong investigative and analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong facilitation and communication abilities, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills.
  • Ability to translate data and feedback into actionable insights.

Work Environment Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.
