job_description.job_card.job_descriptionMinimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree in environmental science, natural resources, biology, ecology, or related field, and a few years of post-degree experience. Wetland Delineation experience is required. Listed species habitat assessment experience is required. Strong ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously. Knowledge of and ability to apply environmental compliance and permitting regulations of applicable regulatory agencies in the Gulf / South region. Excellent verbal communication and technical communication skills are mandatory, along with the ability to maintain a positive attitude working under aggressive schedules. The candidate must have a strong ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously. The ability to prepare clear and concise reports, procedures, correspondence, and other written materials is also required. The candidate must be able to work in the field throughout TX, and potentially nearby states. Experience writing NEPA related documents such as Environmental Assessments, Categorical Exclusions and related technical reports. Experience routing linear projects across landscapes to avoid and minimize environmental impact. Experience evaluating existing or proposed projects for impacts to the environment, necessary permit procedures and potential fatal flaws (due diligence). POSITION SUMMARY
TRC Companies, Inc., a pioneer in groundbreaking scientific and engineering services, is seeking an experienced Biologist to join our Permitting, Planning and Licensing team in Austin, TX, Dallas, TX, Midland, TX, OR Houston, TX.
Potential to work from various locations within TX. Successful candidate will be able to work in the field throughout TX, as well as nearby states
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - TASKS
The position requires a strong technical background supporting our TRC leaders serving as a biologist to :
- Conduct biological field surveys which may include wetland / waterbody (in accordance with USACE requirements), habitat, or wildlife and plant species-specific surveys; conduct breeding bird and raptor surveys.
- Prepare wetland reports and obtain jurisdictional determinations.
- Prepare Permit Applications for USACE Section 10 / 404 and state permit applications.
- Provide support for mitigation activities including mitigation banking options for client projects or permittee-responsible options requiring the development of Wetlands Mitigation Plans, mitigation site design, and conducting monitoring / reporting to Agencies.
- Prepare listed species reports and consultation packages to resource agencies.
- Prepare federal, state, and local environmental permits.
- Communicate and coordinate with agencies during permitting review process and attend meetings with clients and Federal, State and local agencies such as pre-application meetings, geologic review meetings, etc.
- Provide technical support in responding to requests for proposals.

Compensation : In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.
Other Compensation : Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
