TRAINING
Appoquinimink School District may require you to be trained in Safety-Care or a similar competency-based crisis prevention intervention training program as a condition of your continued employment.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Under direction of the Building Principal, the Licensed Teacher plans and provides for appropriate learning experiences for students. Provides an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of individuals to ensure Success for Every Student. Supervises students in a variety of school related settings. Monitors and evaluates student outcomes. Communicates and interacts with students, parents, staff and community. Develops, selects and modifies instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students. Maintains appropriate records and follows required procedures and practices. Monitors appropriate use and care of equipment, materials and facilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following information is intended to describe the overall nature and scope of the work being performed in relation to the position. This is not a comprehensive listing of all the responsibilities or tasks; other work may be assigned when deemed appropriate :
- Provides a safe and encouraging learning environment to meet the needs, interests, and abilities of all students.
- Plans and develops instructional plans, lessons, experiments, and other support activities to present approved district curriculum in accordance with district goals and objectives.
- Maintains accurate records, tests, reports, etc. as required by DDOE and policies, Federal Regulations, and School Board Policy to demonstrate student performance.
- Analyzes and uses student performance data to inform instruction.
- Establishes and maintains good rapport and communication with students, school personnel and parents.
- Establishes classroom routines and procedures and implements effective classroom management.
- Implements School Board and school-based policies and procedures in order to uphold school regulations.
- Works closely with guidance / special education personnel / outside resources to assist students with special needs.
- Integrates technology appropriately to enhance student learning and instructional delivery.
- Remains current and knowledgeable about evidence -based practices related to teaching and learning through the active pursuit of professional development activities.
- Participates in district and school level committees designed to foster continuing improvement and growth.
- Communicates curriculum and student-related information effectively in oral and written form.
- Participates in all meetings (IEP, conferences, etc.).
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal / Supervisor.

The work of this class is generally performed in a school environment. Work may require the ability to move around the school and classroom.
