Marine Civil Superintendent (Foundations & Concrete)

Location: Newark, NJ, US Portsmouth, VA, US Hartford, CT, US Houston, TX, US Cranford, NJ, US New London, CT, US Baltimore, MD, US

Position Overview: Our team is looking for an experienced construction superintendent to supervise craft employees and ensure projects are safely completed on time. As a Superintendent, you will play a key role in the success of Weeks Marine projects across the NE region of US. This role requires excellent communication skills, as you'll collaborate with various people, such as craft workers, job teams, and engineers.

District Overview: Established in 1919, Weeks Marine, Inc. is one of the largest marine, dredging and tunneling contractors in North America and has successfully completed projects throughout North and South America, from inland waterways to offshore sites in the Pacific and the Atlantic. Weeks Marine has three key divisions Construction, Dredging and Marine Services which are bolstered by three major subsidiaries, Healy Tibbitts Builders, Inc., McNally International, Inc. and North American Aggregates. Weeks Marine's vast reach and deep expertise, combined with the sheer size and diversity of its equipment fleet, enables the company to serve as a one-stop shop for clients in both the private and governmental sectors, providing exceptional customer service, environmental sensitivity, operational efficiency, and a long-standing commitment to safety.

Weeks Marine is headquartered in Cranford, New Jersey, and manages a network of regional offices in Louisiana, Texas, Hawaii, Guam, Ontario, and Nova Scotia.

Location: This position will be based out of our Cranford, NJ location. This role requires frequent travel to projects across the NE region on US.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the crew(s) and craft workers in the application of all projects.
  • Managing the performance of productivity, safety, quality, and schedule adherence.
  • Collaborate with engineers, Job teams, etc. to determine project needs.
  • Utilize equipment, material, and labor to maximize production and minimize costs in assigned responsibility.
  • Set performance goals and deadlines.
  • Coordinate and interface effectively with superintendents and Foreman to ensure smooth workflow and schedule adherence.
  • Resolve employee conflicts, grievances, and scheduling difficulties, informing project and corporate management as appropriate.
  • Assist in schedule planning, determining craft labor needs, material quantities, equipment requirements, etc.
  • Keep track of material stock and orders.
  • Ensure project rules, procedures and programs are followed consistently, including those involving safety, attendance, and workplace behavior standards as reflected in Company's non-harassment and nondiscrimination policies.
  • Perform additional ad hoc assignments per management's direction.

Qualifications: 8+ years' experience in the construction industry, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role. Must have experience and professional knowledge of heavy civil infrastructure, marine infrastructure is preferred. Ideal candidate will have project experience with ports, docks, wharves, piers, bridges or other waterfont structures. Must be able to run multiple crews across various construction scopes. Knowledge of various construction disciplines, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, engineering drawings and other documents. Demonstrated ability to efficiently supervise and evaluate craft performance. General computer skills required, Microsoft Office proficiency (Word and Excel). Organizational and time-management skills. Experience with cranes is preferred. Must have ability to manage and inspire others. High School Diploma/GED required.

Working Conditions: Regular, reliable attendance. Work productively and meet deadlines timely. Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment. Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies. Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required. May work at various different locations and conditions may vary.

Base Compensation: $115,000/yr - $165,000/yr (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
