What You'll Be Doing

Job Summary : This person will champion the safety aspects of all construction activities for capital projects at the plant site and be the primary contact for the reporting of any safety incidents.

Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to :

• Be knowledgeable of OSHA Construction Standards.
• Be knowledgeable of US Steel safety policies and procedures.
• Be knowledgeable of general industrial construction practices.
• Understand the scope of the construction project and prepare a job hazards document for each project.
• Participate in each project's contractor pre-job safety meeting and address potential hazards and mitigation methods.
• Attend a contractor's morning tool box safety meeting and review their JSA.
• Monitoring contractor's work performance to ensure safety requirements are met.
• Perform periodic safety audits.
• Be the primary contact for documenting and reporting any safety incidents. This includes getting witness accounts, primary person(s) involved statement(s), and if warranted lead a 5 Whys investigation.

Ideal Background

Education : High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Construction Science, Building Science or related field from an accredited university is preferred.

Licensing : No licensing is required for this position.

Experience : This position requires a minimum 5 years of relevant industrial construction coordination and administration experience.
