OUR POSITION The Construction Inspector is responsible for ensuring public works and capital projects are constructed in compliance with plans, specifications, and regulatory requirements. Under general supervision, this position conducts detailed inspections of construction sites, evaluates materials and workmanship, monitors contractor compliance, and prepares comprehensive project reports. As a liaison between the City, contractors, engineers, and property owners, the Construction Inspector plays a critical role in maintaining quality standards, addressing issues that arise, and ensuring the projects meet safety and performance standards. This position requires initiative, independent judgment, and the ability to handle complex situations with tact and professionalism.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate for the Construction Inspector role will have extensive technical knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations, including federal, state, and local laws. They will be skilled at conducting detailed inspections of public works and capital projects, ensuring compliance with specifications and safety standards. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent; and two years of experience in construction inspection or six years of trades experience working on large public works construction projects; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

ABOUT THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT
