Position Summary:

  • The Construction Coordinator is responsible for coordinating residential and commercial fiber construction projects from start to finish.
  • This role owns the full project lifecycle, including field surveys, permitting, Bill of Materials (BOM) development, Notice-to-Proceed (NTP) packages, subcontractor oversight, quality control, and as-built verification. The Construction Coordinator ensures all work meets established technical standards and company policies, that as-built data and bore logs are delivered to the documentation team for entry into Vetro, and that projects are completed on time and within budget.

This role requires strong field presence, cross-functional coordination, and the ability to troubleshoot and make sound decisions independently. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Own construction projects end-to-end, from initial survey through final closeout, ensuring quality service delivery and customer satisfaction throughout. Conduct field surveys of existing and proposed outside plant installations, including aerial and underground network facilities; design route paths and building entry points for service delivery. Obtain required permits and easements for aerial and underground construction; ensure all permitting requirements are identified and fulfilled before work begins. Create Bill of Materials (BOMs) for all projects; request purchase orders and manage material ordering, delivery, and coordination with contract construction companies. Prepare and issue Notice-to-Proceed (NTP) packages for contractors; assign work to subcontractor leadership teams and approve final billing. Perform field verification of all construction activities to confirm work meets design specifications; monitor subcontractor quality and safety performance throughout execution. Troubleshoot on-site issues as they arise, taking corrective action quickly to protect timelines, cost control, and service quality. Modify design schematics to reflect as-built conditions; ensure all as-built data and bore logs are provided to the documentation team for input into Vetro. Submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports on all construction activity to internal and external departments; verify work-in-progress reports. Ensure full compliance with OSHA safety standards and IQ Fiber policies; maintain full accountability for safety, productivity, quality, workmanship, and customer service on all assigned projects. Coordinate between customers and all internal and external departments throughout project execution. Define architecture, equipment needs, costs, and variables to support accurate project planning and budgeting. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: Minimum of 5 years of telecommunications construction experience; high school diploma required, two-year degree preferred. Experience with walk-out surveys, design, budgeting, and creating BOMs including GPON; experience managing contractor relationships and coordinating multi-site construction projects required. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to coordinate effectively across customers, contractors, and internal teams. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; computer skills sufficient to learn new applications and systems including Vetro. Industry and vendor-specific certifications and training such as NCTI, SCTE, or BCT/E preferred. Ability to work independently using sound judgment, solve problems with little or no direction, and manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license with a clear MVR, auto insurance, and a satisfactory driving record; ability to drive during nighttime and adverse weather conditions. Must be available for a 24/7 operation including emergency schedules during natural disasters, network outages, mandatory overtime, and weekend work as needed. Must be able to lift 25 pounds repeatedly, climb ladders up to 28 feet, and work in adverse weather conditions.

Must pass a standard background check and drug screening. What Success Looks Like:

  • Construction projects are owned end-to-end and delivered on schedule and within budget, with work executed in alignment with company standards and expectations for quality and professionalism. Contractors, customers, and internal teams remain aligned throughout execution, with clear communication, proactive coordination, and permitting handled correctly to prevent avoidable delays or rework. Construction activities consistently meet quality, safety, and technical compliance requirements, supported by field verification, active oversight of subcontractor performance, and prompt correction of deficiencies.
