General Counsel Role Summary :

Join Wise Staffing Group as our Corporate Legal Advisor. In this pivotal role, you will be the in-house legal authority, guiding our business on employment and labor law, commercial agreements, corporate governance, compliance, and risk management. You will collaborate closely with HR, Operations, and Executive teams to craft legal strategies and develop practices that mitigate risk while empowering our business objectives.

General Counsel Responsibilities :

  • Act as the main legal advisor for all employment and labor related issues, including hiring, terminations, wage and hour laws, discrimination claims, and more.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of legal documents including employment agreements, non-compete clauses, client contracts, and NDAs.
  • Oversee all litigation processes, coordinating with outside counsel and managing strategies and budgets effectively.
  • Advise on compliance with multi-state laws concerning staffing operations and employee classifications.
  • Collaborate with HR and Operations teams to create and implement strong employment policies and training programs.
  • Conduct internal investigations regarding regulatory issues and prepare thorough reports with recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain legal documentation templates and playbooks.
  • Manage relationships with external legal counsel, ensuring efficient use of resources and high performance.
  • Provide actionable legal insights to the executive team and assist in corporate governance efforts.
  • Support M&A and commercial negotiations as required.
  • Maintain robust corporate compliance programs, overseeing policy implementation and readiness for audits.
  • Keep the company informed about significant legal developments and assist in educational initiatives across the organization.
  • Manage receivables processes, including drafting demand letters and coordinating necessary legal actions for account collections.

General Counsel Qualifications :

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Active membership and good standing to practice law in Mississippi and Alabama.
  • At least 5 years of legal experience focusing significantly on employment / labor law.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as in-house counsel or senior outside counsel.
  • Proven track record in managing and defending employment litigations.
  • Strong skills in drafting and negotiating employment-related agreements.
  • In-depth knowledge of multi-state employment law.
  • Excellent communication abilities, capable of simplifying complex legal concepts for team members without legal expertise.
  • High ethical standards and an ability to provide independent legal advice while maintaining positive executive relationships.
  • Preferred experience in the workforce services or staffing industries.
  • Experience handling multi-state litigation and familiarity with federal employment statutes.
