Job description

About Rivian Rivian is on a mission to keep the world adventurous forever. This goes for the emissions-free Electric Adventure Vehicles we build, and the curious, courageous souls we seek to attract. As a company, we constantly challenge what’s possible, never simply accepting what has always been done. We reframe old problems, seek new solutions and operate comfortably in areas that are unknown. Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations. Role Summary Sitting within the Creative Studio, our dynamic in-house team responsible for producing all creative for the brand, from video and photo to physical touchpoints, you will shape how our brand comes to life in the physical world. As the Senior Designer, Environments, you will tackle a diverse array of facilities and spatial projects, including retail environments, marketing activations, strategic partnerships, and more. We are looking for a hands-on "do-er" who is ready to bring their absolute best creative work to the table. In this role, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure our brand narrative is seamlessly woven into every physical experience, making them impactful, scalable, and aligned with our creative vision. Responsibilities Lead Experiential Design: Drive the conceptualization and design development for physical spaces across retail, marketing events, and brand partnerships. Be a Hands-On "Do-er": Bring your best creative work every day. Operate as an active creator, independently driving projects from initial sketch and ideation through to final execution. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with video, photography, marketing, retail, and facilities teams to deliver holistic, integrated brand experiences. Spatial Storytelling: Design with clear storytelling through color, materiality, texture, furniture selection, and spatial planning, utilizing unique footprints advantageously. Special Projects & Partnerships: Translate design briefs into compelling physical spaces for special projects, pop-ups, and unique flagship experiences. Material & FF&E Selection: Select finishes, materials, and FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment) that align with the brand’s aesthetic, operational needs, and financial targets. Executive Presentations: Develop and present clear, executable concept designs and compelling visual narratives to stakeholders and leadership. Qualifications 5+ years of experience in creative design, interior design, furniture, or experiential design. Design Background: A strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional creative work in physical environments, experiential spaces, and brand touchpoints. Technical Proficiency: High proficiency in modern 3D spatial software (e.g., Rhino, SketchUp,Revit, or similar), as well as 2D tools like Figma and Adobe Creative Suite. Collaborative Spirit: A proven track record of cross-functional collaboration and the ability to clearly explain complex design decisions to partners of all backgrounds. Agility: Ability to adapt quickly to shifting project needs and pivot design strategies effectively to maintain alignment with the brand's creative direction. Detail-Oriented: Strong background in spatial layout, materiality, custom detailing, and experiential design principles Must be able to work onsite a minimum of 3 days per week (up to 5 days encouraged) at the assigned Office. Must be able to travel occasionally to project sites, vendor facilities, and cross-functional workshops. Pay Disclosure The salary range for this role is $98,500 to $123,100 for Irvine, California based applicants and $89,900 to $112,400 for Georgia based applicants. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, and organizational needs. The successful candidate may be eligible for annual performance bonus and equity awards. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits for full-time and part-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26, including but not limited to paid vacation, paid sick leave, and a competitive portfolio of insurance benefits including life, medical, dental, vision, short-term disability insurance, and long-term disability insurance to eligible employees. You may also have the opportunity to participate in Rivian’s 401(k) Plan and Employee Stock Purchase Program if you meet certain eligibility requirements. Full-time employee coverage is effective on their first day of employment. Part-time employee coverage is effective the first of the month following 90 days of employment. More information about benefits is available at rivianbenefits.com. You can apply for this role through careers.rivian.com (or through internal-careers-rivian.icims.com if you are a current employee). This job is not expected to be closed any sooner than 10/9/2026.
