The Office of the District Attorney Bronx County (BXDA) is charged with the twin goals of ensuring public safety and striving for equal justice for the over 1.4 million members of the Bronx County community. By Pursuing Justice with Integrity the BXDA places a focus on assistance for crime victims while simultaneously ensuring fairness to defendants. Moreover the BXDA aims to balance the need to seek appropriate punishment for certain crimes while recognizing when punitive measures do not adequately advance justice. The Director of Crime Prevention sitting in the Community Engagement Bureau will serve a critical role at BXDA by overseeing the development and execution of crime prevention strategies including neighborhood-specific initiatives that respond to the crime conditions of that Bronx area.

Job Responsibilities :

• Work with entities across BXDA to understand crime conditions across Bronx County.
• Develop collaborative engagement and prevention strategies and initiatives based on crime conditions. Plan and manage meetings for those efforts.
• Develop and maintain relationships with community partners including Cure Violence organizations to enhance public safety.
• Connect communities to resources and neighborhood-specific programming.
• Coordinate and serve as point of contact for BXDA events including Gun Violence Prevention Week and peace rallies.
• Assist in the coordination of and participate in responses to specific instances of violence in Bronx County.
• Serve as internal agency contact for crime prevention efforts led by BXDA.
• Supervise and train Community Engagement Coordinators in prevention efforts.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or

2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or

3. Education and / or experience which is equivalent to 1 or 2 above. However all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in 1 above.
