Position Summary This is a rare and substantively distinctive opportunity in the national registrar profession: the role combines the full scope of a flagship university registrar with direct responsibility for UGA’s curriculum governance systems, the institutional infrastructure through which faculty-approved academic programs, courses, and degree requirements are managed, published, and implemented. The University Registrar and Executive Director of Curriculum Management (“University Registrar”) reports directly to the Vice President for Instruction and Senior Vice Provost for Academic Planning and serves on the VPI Leadership Team with the Vice Provost for Enrollment Management and two Associate Vice Presidents for Instruction. The University Registrar provides support and guidance to the Vice President for Instruction as needed in areas including, but not limited to, curriculum, student success initiatives, faculty governance, and academic program proposals. This role also represents the office on committees and inorganizations at the university, state, and national level. This role works collaboratively with other offices in managing enrollment, curricular issues, academic advising, class schedules, and classroom space management, which informs the Institution’s strategy and directs its best efforts in the successful attainment of students’ educational goals.The University Registrar provides guidance to campus leadership concerning curriculum development and approval and resolution of student issues and is the liaison with the University System of Georgia (USG) concerning curriculum and the Chief Transfer Officer for the university serving on USG committees as needed. The University Registrar is responsible for supporting and implementing university and VPI student success initiatives including the recently launched new digital Comprehensive Learner Record, as well as the First-Year Odyssey Seminar and Double Dawgs program. The University Registrar oversees the development, implementation, and maintenance of student and curriculum systems. The University Registrar is a professional who with the goal of student success, collaborates across campus and appreciates the role of the University Registrar’s Office in the larger institutional context, is collaborative, able to engage various constituencies, and works to ensure everyone across the institution is part of conversations on student success. The University Registrar provides leadership, strategic planning, organization, and direction for all functional areas of the Office of the University Registrar and is responsible for the budget.   • Experience at a large, comprehensive institution with a record of leading and developing professional staff teams in a complex, high-volume academic environment.

Percentage of time Duties/Responsibilities
  • Provides leadership, strategic planning, organization, and direction for all functional areas of the Office of the University Registrar and is responsible for the budget. This includes oversight and management of the University Registrar’s Office, which is responsible for the registration of all students, the posting of all grades, honors, and degrees received as well as providing security for the permanent academic records of all students.
  • Maintains strategic oversight of the University’s student information systems — including Banner, DegreeWorks, and related platforms, ensuring integrity, accuracy, and security of all student data.
  • Oversees setting the academic calendar, publishing class schedules and final exam schedules, and classroom scheduling
  • Oversees issuing transcripts of academic records, certifying enrollment and degree completion, certifying veterans and dependents for VA educational benefits, certifying athletes for NCAA and SEC continuing eligibility. Additionally, the University Registrar’s Office determines residency status for currently enrolled students and administers tuition waivers.
  • Maintains the course evaluation system, and housing a system for faculty to upload syllabi and CVs.
  • Serves as the point of contact for FERPA training and questions, concerns and issues related to FERPA.
  • Serves as Secretary for the University Council and supports two important University Council Committees, the University Curriculum Committee and the Educational Affairs Committee.
  • Provides support for the Office of Special Events, the President’s Office, and the Provost’s Office, for commencement exercises, including providing commencement program data and other records-related responsibilities for commencement.
  • Plays a key strategic role providing leadership in managing and updating the existing student information system.
  • Supervises the Senior Associate Registrar, who directly oversees the work of the Associate Registrars with distinct functional areas and several other key employees.
