Early Childhood Education Lead Teacher

For the 2026-2027 School Year

Work Schedule: 7.50 hours per day (8:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m.) 180 days per year (Monday-Friday)

Job Summary

This position works directly in the ECEAP classroom and is responsible for planning and implementing a learning environment and varied experiences for children using early childhood developmentally appropriate practices and will incorporate early childhood models to create an academically rich environment that also meets the child's social, emotional, and physical needs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education or related field and two years of experience in a related field OR Associate of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education and two years of experience in a related field
  • Blood Borne Pathogen training
  • Valid Washington State Health card (maintained for the duration of this job)
  • 1st Aid & Adult/Child CPR training (completed within 30 days from date of hire and to be maintained for the duration of this job)
  • Valid Washington State Driver's License and evidence of mobility (maintained for the duration of this job)
  • Experience and/or training with cultural, ethnic, and language diversity preferred
  • Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance
  • Proof of Immunization (if born 1/1/57 or later)
  • I-9 Employment Eligibility in compliance with the Immigrations Reform and Control Act
  • Completion of all district-required training within thirty (30) calendar days from hire date

Essential Job Functions

This list of essential job functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary. Depending upon individual assignment, the employee may perform all or a combination of several of the following duties:

  • Arrange classroom to provide a developmentally appropriate educational environment for 18 preschool children according to ECEAP standards
  • Assist student in one-to-one and small group settings to provide additional learning support
  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate multicultural curriculum
  • Implement curriculum such as Second Step
  • Meet and coordinate activities with Family Service Providers on a regular basis and conduct home visits
  • Administer test and evaluate student progress utilizing assessments such as First Step, Language and Literacy, DECA, and also provides a portfolio for all 36 students
  • Partner with families to set educational goals and individual learning plans using Decca standards
  • Maintain student records
  • Supervise and correct students as necessary to maintain a safe environment in classroom, on playground, and during transitions
  • Use computers and relate technologies
  • Utilize meal time as a learning experience to foster children's nutrition
  • Attend all county training and meetings
  • Meet with families monthly for curriculum planning
  • Write monthly newsletter
  • Stay current with ECEAP Performance Standards
  • Maintain consistent presence at assigned worksite and regular work hours
  • Professionally interact with students, staff, and public
  • Comply with all district policies and procedures
  • Perform related duties as assigned

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee is confined to a work area; required to have precise control of fingers and hand movements; experiences constant interruptions and inflexible deadlines; and must be able to stoop, crouch, crawl, bend, kneel, stand for periods of time, and lift in order to assist a student with personal care. The employee is required to deal with distraught and/or angry persons and is exposed to infectious diseases carried by children. The noise level in the work environment is acceptable to this particular environment and can vary depending upon daily activity but will remain within acceptable ranges.

Evaluation

This position shall be evaluated periodically by the Early Learning Principal pursuant to the currently established district procedures and evaluation criteria. The process shall include an evaluation of the employee's performance of the above essential job functions.
